|CoreyZ||Yeah, bit of a weak ending.... now I really am hoping Denny gets her ass across the sea fast and starts melting faces.|
|06-11-2013 09:14 PM|
|Saharacane||I'm very surprised Roose Bolton didn't kill Frey then and there when they were cleaning up after the Red Wedding. He had it in his eyes that Old Man Frey is going down.|

I had to wait 20 whole hours !! HBO Go fail sunday night.
Ha yea Yvgrit shot him with love arrows, I was waiting for her to say "I love you" after he rode off. The only thing I didn't like about this episode was that it didn't end with an "Oh Shit" moment like the last 2 finale's have. Although we could come back in Season 4 and Dany has been turned into a rotisserie by her "children" lol.
It was good seeing Arya get some revenge, Nice little Arya and the Hound disney movie we have coming up ahead of us. That was Effed up what the Frey army did to Robb and his Dire wolf in this ep.

A little anti-climactic but still interesting. John Snow got f'd up by his ex-gf and Aria is now a little killer...

|hbgirl||So the season finale last night was a little blah after last week's episode, yes?|

Ok... wow... that episode was harsh!
Im not a reader (yet, waiting till the shows are done)... and having all those characters that I had such high hopes for all die... wow. I seriously hope Fray gets mutilated now.
I saw snow leave his girl, but figured since the wildlings would have still let her stay in their group, it was safer for her to stay with them rather than taking her with him. I have a feeling (coming from a total non-reader standpoint) that he will be back and she will be with him and safe again.

And of course the books were better; ALL books are better than the movies/shows that come after them. It's not like you don't know that already, haha. You can't fit 2000 pages of book into 10 episodes; something has to give, and go, and be left out, and changed.
|06-07-2013 09:46 AM|
HBgirl, nailed it, loves to say the book was better. The biggest issue she had about last weeks ep. was the seen with Arya.
Apparently the Book led you to believe it was "Cold steel from the Hound on the back of her neck" or something which she took as holy hell he killed Arya. And she was a little upset that we the viewers weren't left hanging with that as well.
I think people would have just stopped watching if all them were killed in 20 seconds haha.

|st1264||Please no "Spoilers" as some of us prefer to watch the show...|
|06-05-2013 11:33 AM|
I don't believe the "unknowingly" part honestly; some bookreaders LOVE to complain/point out the differences, changes, etc. like they're experts (or the author themselves ). I'd just straight tell her that it's upsetting (and frankly, kinda rude). If you can't/won't do that, or it doesn't work, don't watch the show with her; can you watch in separate rooms or dvr and one of you watch it later?
|06-05-2013 07:46 AM|
I'm loosing my endless fight to keep my lady's mouth SHUT about whats happening in the books sadly so some of the Red Wedding questions I had have been answered...can I call her the B word over that? Its rather UPSETTING that some cliff hangers are now answered when the rest of you all may not figure it out until next season!
I want to know but I don't want it to be spoiled ya know. Any of you book readers got advice for how I can keep her quiet! lol. She does it "unknowingly" so she claims. She can't remember what has happened in the book and what has happened in the show. I think i'll just have to stop discussing the show with her.

The show is phenomenal. I'm looking forward to next week's finale, but am in disbelief and frustrated that we're already at the end of another season.
I didn't see things ending well for Robb, but I didn't anticipate things ending then and there. He was one of my favorite characters.

This show is the best on tv right now (until Breaking Bad is back from hiatus). Last Ep was a bloodbath!
|06-04-2013 12:57 PM|
i was right there with you going through "emotional blitzkrieg"! lol
i feel like i got a little lucky though, right before we tuned in to our Game of Thrones recording i had just gone through something just as crazy with the conclusion of the last episode of De Vincis Demons...
anyway, Arya i feel like shes going to become the next baddest ass assassin. killing all the lanisters for what they did to her dad, sister, herself, and her family. i think Dog is going to mentor her somehow...
and JOHN SNOW!!???! i hate that guy so much right now... dude you left your chick while she was fighting for you!!!! for shame

Ugh I better not have too many cliff hangers, making me wait 10 damn months for that!
While listening to a podcast at work. They brought up a good point. Someone made it out of the Red Wedding (possibly). Who was the guy who "had to go find a tree to piss on" ?
Was he the ones that had mentioned all season its a waste to march all these men here for a wedding ?
|06-04-2013 11:48 AM|
And remember, this season is only 1/2 of the third book, so don't count on there being much "wrapping" up, haha.
|06-04-2013 11:13 AM|
|Bullethead||lol Looks like its up to the Iron Born to take Westeros ... Or the Baratheons. But like you said with Robb, they've been standing around holding their johnsons. Time to make a move.|
|06-04-2013 10:59 AM|
im wondering if jon is going to somehow pickup where his brother left off. i also have had the feeling daenerys was going to team up with the starks or the wildlings.
and finally stop killing the wolves they are one of my favorit parts for the show
|06-04-2013 10:35 AM|
Poor Arya hasn't really done much at all in this show. Next week we still have alot to wrap up.
-Melisandra / Baratheon Bastard / Onion Knight
-Cersie / Pretty boy floyd (forget his name) are to be married arent they?
-Also what the hell is little finger just gone now? He's too much a conniving man to just sail off into the sunset and be done with.
-Jon Snow picking Crows before Hoes (no offense ladies it just rolls off the tongue)
-Sam and the baby mama drama
-Hopefully Arya but I feel her story may be done for this season.
-Bran and Ricken may get a little more attention. We may follow Osha and Ricken now that the eh hem other story arc has come to a halting stop.
alot to fit in. Did I miss anyone?

BUT, and I'm not sure how much I should say in here w/o giving major spoilers, he hasn't finished writing the book series yet (5 books done, 2 more to go). The current TV series season (3) covers the first half of book 3 (A Storm of Swords). But with how easily he kills off characters I love, that doesn't mean she won't die at some point in those last 2 books.
|06-04-2013 09:43 AM|
|phoolish||ill be pi$$ed if Arya dies. real pi$$ed|
|06-04-2013 09:35 AM|
Red Wedding was..
|06-04-2013 09:31 AM|
Yeah, I've learned long ago that movies/tv shows based on books can never include everything that the books did, so I try to look at them separately. Especially with the books that I love like this one, as well as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Harry Potter series, etc. There has to be condensing, switching of who did what, etc. for the sake of time, and appealing to those in the audience who haven't read the books. If readers would remember that the TV show is an adaptation of the books, they'd probably enjoy the series/movies more. Just my opinion though.
Back to the story so far, yes, consequences are inevitable in this world, haha. The Frey's, Roose Bolton, Tywin Lannister ... I think my list is longer than Arya's (she is my favorite character, and I can't wait to see her story played out on the screen).
|06-04-2013 08:47 AM|
I watch with someone who has read the books as well...seems jaded. While I'm over here going through emotional blitzkreig all I hear is "psh thats not how the book did it"
I understand things will vary from the book, I guess others don't want them to change? But its almost a different demographic. You have to pull the audience in before you upset them, and up until 2 minute before sh*t hit the fan I could have cared less about 2 of the 3 characters we lossed in that scene.
(trying to to throw in spoilers but hell seems like just you and I here)
Wonder what the consequences will be for the Frey's. Revenge or no, you just made yourself one of the most untrustworthy families in the land. Although you already had the Rep. of "never cross the Freys".
|06-03-2013 03:53 PM|
Hahaha ... yes. Knowing it was going to happen didn't make watching it any better, either. While I watch this series, and I really do enjoy it, I kind of wish I hadn't read the books already, because it brings up all the hate at Martin again for killing characters I like.
Just know that it gets better, then worse, then better again, then worse, then ...
