|JeepReaper09||Ok so broke down and bought a stupid pipe wrench since you all have suggested it. Turns out its not so stupid after all. Don't know how it worked but it did and worked like a champ! Cant thank you guys enough! My newly lifted jeep is aligned and drives straight and true!|

|cballou||I can attest to the effectiveness of a pipe wrench. I was in the same boat where the vise grips were just sliding and doing nothing more than marking up my tie rod. At that point I couldn't see how one would make a difference but with no other options (other than replacing the tie rod) I went ahead and purchased one. That sucker dug in and within a few rotations the tie rod was almost easy to turn (comparatively speaking) Worth the investment to get it done yourself and still a lot cheaper than paying for an alignment.|

BTW a pipe wrench is also commonly refered as a Stillson Wrench, Monkey Wrench and a Stillie if your one of our UK friends.
They also come in Left and Right versions

The pipe wrench would grab onto the smooth round bar...
I usually grab mine about 3 or 4 inches from the driver side tie rod end.
You can see the marks on it here...

tips on getting the tie rod to turn
Just finished my front suspension lift, and my toe for the alignment and I cannot for the life of me get the tie rod to turn. Advice?? I've sprayed the crap out of the tie rod ends with pb blaster and nothing. Vise grips...nothing except for scratching the rod. Help please! Thanks.
