12JKUR Pretty much stock here (see the sig). Mostly around town here about 15mpg. Then when it hit 15K miles I went on a road trip and got about 20mpg doing 65-70. Perhaps I had a tail wind but for the last couple tanks I've been getting 17-18+mpg around town.

Seems to hum right along fine at whatever RPM (2500-2800) and still has plenty of pull.

I had the same thing in mind, 15 MPG is a 50% increase for me!

Spyder1049 I just put on 315 70 17 duratracs I have a 13 jkur with 4.10s, I can barely tell the difference between the stock km 32 stockers. Just did the procal put 300 miles on it so, so far so good

mhilbush I got the 4.10 on my 2013 JKU Rubicon. I did this with the expectation that I might put 35's on it. In the meantime, I don't have any problem at all with the slightly higher engine noise and lower fuel efficiency due to the higher RPMs. Of course, I'm comparing against the vehicle I replaced, which was a 2500HD Silverado. I was lucky to see 14 mpg with that, so almost anything is an improvement...

CHIEF-IN-DC 35" Toyo MTs with Hutchinson wheels on 4.10. Low 15s at best.

Its alway hard for me to believe guys that say they are getting 18-19 running 4.10. I'm completely stock, always try to keep it under 3k rpm (Eco mode) and The absolute best average I ever saw was in the low 17's. I have actually been reading that guys running 33's with 15" rims are getting better mileage because the RPMs are much lower and the 4.1 seems to be better paired with that set up than it does with stock.

With 35s and 3.73 in my 13' JKUR with 1900 miles, I'm getting roughly 12.5mpg in the city as calculated at fill up. Haven't driven out of the city yet ( just swapped the tires on a couple days ago). But, I haven't chipped it either. So, since the circumference of the tire is about 10% (almost exactly) greater, my actual mileage is roughly 10% better. 37s are roughly 16% greater in diameter. This depends a bit on the particular tire and psi in the tire.

I think you're talking about having a 4:1 ratio "Rock Trac" transfer case. That means that it's 4 times lower in 4-Low than 4-High. Double check to see if it is (4.1 period or 4:1 colon).

The 3.73 is the default for auto rubicons. The upgrade would show up on the right hand column under "option equipment" on the sticker and have a price next to it. It looks like it's about a $195 option. Thus It should show up there I would think. It would say 4.10 axle ratio or something very close with axle in the name. I looked at a rubicon on the net and it didn't show anywhere what axle ratio you have it you don't choose the option on the window or spec breakdown.

gmanjeep My new 2013 Rubicon sticker indicates it's a 4.1 true track but the dealer said it has a 3.73 gear ratio. It's an automatic. How can I tell if it has the 4.10 or 3.73?

guppy If you start with a 4:10 and stock 32" tires and go to 35" tires you will end up real close to 3:73.
Saves you from feeling the need to re-gear after bigger tires.
I would much rather be on the low side of gearing (higher rpm) rather than have a jeep that won't pull itself in overdrive. If you do more town driving the lower gearing won't hurt your mpgs at all.

its called "Road Trip" I have tried other free apps but I found this one to be the easiest to input information on. I generally do it right after I fill up and get into my jeep. It takes me a couple of seconds and I'm done. It can also track maintenance intervals and you can have multiple vehicles. It also does a good job of breaking down expenses monthly so I have a better indication of my gas expense. The Jeep's trip computer has always been all over the place and really inconsistent when compared to this app.

dalearyous what is the difference in "feeling" of the vehicle for a manual transmission going from 3.21 to 3.73 to 4.10?

i have only driven a 3.21 manual sport (2012 jk) and 3.73 auto (2012 jku) and while the manual felt great (shifting between gears and the clutch) there seemed to be something off. the auto felt powerful and fine like i would expect. i typically only drive manual tranny cars (currently WRX) so maybe its just the comparison.

thoughts?

panthermark Right when ordered my Sahara, I quickly thought about a Rubi. If I would have passed on the leather interior and painted top, it would have been about the same cost. If I would have went Rubi, I would have gone 3.73's being that I have very littlle desire to mod.

bearman95 I just returned from a 1300 mile round trip going from Ft. Worth to South Padre Island. I have a 12 auto Rubicon with 373 gears and 35 tires and i averaged 19 mpg there and back. Had the cruise set at 69 all the way and thats what i drove when conditions allowed it. I rountinely get 17 to 18 mpg around the DFW area. After driving 20 miles up the South Padre Island beach and back in very soft sand with out airing down, the mpg had dropped to 15 in four wheel high and the power was very good. 373 gears will work just fine in a Rubicon 2012 year model or least mine does.

stoop14 faie hit of highway driving in the yukon lol nothings close. Would 35" with a 2.5" lift work just fime with 3.73? Or would that also just kill gpm?

JukkaBeeze had my JKR w/4.10s for a week now. averaged 16.5 on the first tank and 135 of that was highway. seeing about 15 mpg this week, no highway. all in all i like it better than that 2010 Sahara w/3.73s i traded in

scuba_steve 2013 JKR with 4.10

Around town, 17 MPG...neither driving gently nor like I stole out. Just average.

QElliott17 I will say that the mpg at 65 mph vs 70+ mph is the difference some people see. I live in the so I go up and down hills and can get 19+ mpg going 65 mph or 17ish going 70+ mph and I have 4.10s

And unless you plan on modding, or live in a very hilly area, or do very litle highway driving, 4.10's coupled with the new auto is a lot of gear for a DD.

RPM's in 5th gear on stock 32.06 inch wheels at 70 mph with NAG-1 auto:
4.10 = 2497
3.73 = 2271
3.55 = 2162
3.21 = 1955

Manuals have a little longer top gear, so it isn't quite as bad on the highway.
