Find someone in your area that has a JK with the soft top and stop by and ask them.

Slimred I think you are probably right. I just watched another video & may have figured it out. When the guy in the video was lowering the soft top he was pulling the folds out vs tucking them in. Not sure I'm explaining it correctly. Thanks for responding. I might try it again if it doesn't start raining.

indirocz28 I'm sure there is a step you're missing.

indirocz28 I haven't messed with the JK's tops, but there are many many videos on You Tube about taking down JK tops.

Probably just something you're not sliding correctly. Should be an easy fix.

Slimred Hello. I am new to the forum though I have owned my 08 wrangler for 4 yrs now. I have a question. I bought a soft top last yr and for some reason when I take the top all the way down it does not lay flat. The top where the material makes the accordion doesn't go down and the arms angle up to the sky. Anyone else have issue? And what was the fix? Thanks

indirocz28 Here you go, sorry for the zoomed in shaky bit near the end. I accidentally hit the zoom and didn't realize it.

indirocz28 I did mine the other day, its a smittybilt though.

Anyway, start at the back, roll the back window up, & snap it.
Take out your rear side windows, lay them on the back seat for now.
take out your door windows, set them to the side also.
Go to the back, and pull the rear corners out and fold them up over the top on each side.
Go to the front doors, gently un-snap the snaps. I say gently because 3 of mine broke off the other day, and now I'm pissed because it will vibrate like hell on the highway and piss me off.

Slide back the little plastic "lock/unlock" tabs at the front corners.

From there, pull out the front tab from the track over the windshield.

Now, go to the rear side windows, above them will be the "spreader bars", there will be a black coupler in the middle of them, pull the rear piece back and you will see the joint.

From there, give your thick top frame bars a tug and start moving them. They will start folding and you will be able to see how it is going to go.

Before you fold it too much, fold the front back onto the rest of the top, once you get it going down you will want to wrap it underneath the back piece and pull it through towards the seat. That way, when you drive on the highway, it doesn't flap around and become airborne. You will also want to tuck the rear corner pieces in the same way, and you can also fold the rear side windows up in there.

Then start folding the frame back all the way, and it will lay down.

There should be straps on each side that you will wrap over the sides of the frame and they will tuck into the channel that would normally hold the front of the rear side windows.

If you do not have these straps, make some, otherwise your top will rattle and bounce around and it will get air under it and start raising up on the highway.

I hope this helps.

I'll do a write up with pictures tomorrow.

AllMudd I usually start with rolling up the back window and removing doors and side windows. All the windows should be started with the two zippers first. Then the channels across the bottom of all windows and where the windows meet the door jam. Then you take the left/right rear comers out of he Same channel. Then reach up in the middle of both side windows grab the bar that's there and pull it down, if it is he factory frame the. It has a hinge to pull down and bend at. Then across the top of the door frame unsnap all ten snaps five on each side. Then pull the soft top out of the channel on top of the windshield. Now you can see the little plastic locks on top of the frame where the snaps are closest to the windshield they say locked/ unlocked. Spin to the unlocked and gently pull towards you. This should just swing down towards the ground. Once you've done this to both sides the. The whole frame will fold and slid to the rear. It will look weird cause the frame folds and sticks about 3-4" away from the Jeep but its ok. Once it's all folded down then you just slide it forward as one uni tuck all the flapping prices of the top around behind the rear seat and use the retaining straps on each side of the jeep to secure the frame to the channels you removed the windows from.

I cant go topless!

Man I wish somebody made a manual for how to take the soft top down on a 92 Jeep Wrangler! I have no idea how to take this top down! Wish somebody was local and they could show me! on a different note, I really wish I could find where this water leak is! I think I've got more body sealer then I have original body!
