I'm doing a 1" BL and MML next weekend. I don't have much a mechanical background either, but like yourself, I figure once I start ripping it apart, I won't be able to get enough.
I have some kroil coming, so I hope that helps with the sticky bolt situation. Harbor freight also sells a cheapo impact wrench that I'm hoping will help.

This was not tons of fun because of all the bolt-drilling I had to do because New England road salt sucks and the PO was a kid who never washed it.
I started this install in February, sucked not driving it for almost 6 months.
I have no mechanical background, Just started taking apart my dad's 97 and 15 years later still can't get enough.

Looks amazing. Want to help me with my install?
Whats your mechanical background? Any?

Got the SYE/TW Shaft installed and all the vibrations went away. This thing drives better than my car, its unbelievable.
The install wasn't even bad, my lock ring pliers were too small so I had to get bigger ones during the install. If I had had those it would have taken only a couple hours.
I would recommend this setup to anyone with any lift, even with my BB I had more vibes than now.
I have only driven it on the street/highway so far, there is noticeably more body roll than with the BB (Expected). I have never driven a 4" left before so I don't know if its more than usual or not.
The Anti-rock sways definately help, I have them on the second to highest level for now.
Steering is great, I am sure a lot of that is due to the new bushings, my old trackbars and linkage was stock and all the bushings were shot.
One thing I screwed up was putting the speedo sensor back in because my speedometer doesnt work and I am throwing a code for the sensor.
I am hoping to get offroad next weekend for that part of the review.

Unfortunately I don't have a hydraulic lift so everything was done on the ground.
That's an interesting theory though
The tires have been balanced and got an alignment, tomorrow is the big test day.
|06-25-2013 01:48 PM|
hey, you mention shaking... did you set it down on the ground before torqing the bolts? I know w/most lift kits when people tighten everything down up in the air it will ride like crap. If you did that, you may want to loosen the bolts, set is down on the ground then tighten 'em all back up.
Also, be sure your wheels are balanced. W/larger tires even 1 wheel weight missing will cause quite a bad shake.
Looks good though! And I won't say anything the rubicon stickers or the girlfriend the wife doesn't know of lol.

I added everything up, came to just under $4k for suspension parts
Just finished installing the control arms and SYE/CV Shaft
Will be doing a review later this week

Regarding the Rubi-rant... doesn't matter what it says on the side if the machine & driver are capable...

Countryboy, you know that body lift does not count towards shock length?
|06-12-2013 03:19 PM|
|CountryBoyJeep||I had a lift kit but everything is shot from years of use so I'm doing a custom lift too. I ordered Bilstein 5100's too, but for a 3" lift cause I have a 1.25" body lift and didn't need more than that on 32's.|

|LJDan||It should be illegal for Quadratec to sell Rubicon stickers. Your painted flares gave it away immediately.|
|06-12-2013 01:49 AM|
|tweeds2||You have the upgraded tc and higher geared axles?|
|06-11-2013 08:07 PM|
Just need a front axle and lockers to make it complete lol
|06-11-2013 08:00 PM|
|tweeds2||Not a bad rubi-clone, did you buy an extra trail rated badge for the pass side or did it come like that?|
|06-11-2013 07:15 PM|
Cant remember which is the front and which is the back
|06-11-2013 07:11 PM|
The PO didnt take care of it so it needs some serious rust repair which I am doing a little at a time.
As for the rest of you, its a pretty convincing rubi-clone right?
|06-11-2013 02:33 PM|
The sticker should read RUBI-CON.
|06-11-2013 01:30 PM|
No Rubicon Decal,Then we have a Rubicon Decal, what`s up with that??
|06-11-2013 01:23 PM|
|LJDan||I smell a phony Rubicon...|

|beaureed445||What's the part numbers of Bilsteins you used? I have a 4" Pro Comp lift, but recently swapped the Pro Comp shocks for Bilstein.....The Bilsteins seem slightly longer.|

Custom Lift Finally Installed
Took me 6 months to get this lift bought and installed.
Too scared to add up the total cost
The big stuff
4" Teraflex Spings
JKS Adjustable trackbars
Antirock Sway Bars front and rear
1" Body Lift
Black Magic Pads/Rotors/Calipers
SS Extended Brake Lines
Still waiting to be installed
Front and rear ARB diff covers
AA SYE / Tom Woods Shaft
8 Currie Control Arms
This kit too so long to install because I had to drill out just about every bolt
It vibrates like crazy right now, hoping the rest of the parts will straighten that out.
Once I get the shaking to stop I can give a proper review of this build
