|OkieOutlaw||Thanks. That is an awesome idea except now I have to buy two of the dang things. LOL.|

|Bravo.Justin||Has anyone fastened this to the roll bars with the foam and padding on? Trying to think of a way to support the weight without cutting into the foam. A quicker install system would also be a plus..|

|Water Dog||FWIW...Picked up a little Igloo Marine Ice Chest the other day at Wallymart that is a perfect fit for the storage rack....in case anyone is interested.|

Great idea. Thanks for sharing it. I will have to measure to see if it will fit in the back of my LJ with the rear seat in. I have to take the grand kids on the trail with me and need the rear seat, but need all the room I can get
Thanks again everybody for the idea and the different installation options.

|Nothing but a jeep thing||I know it was mentioned above but has anyone thought on how this would work on a soft top?? Greatest idea ever.|

|PBJ Georgia||Awesome idea! I think I am going to try and build the hangers in from the top and cross brace onto the back crossbar (kinda like bestop) in order to keep the soft top clearance but I never would have thought of this. Thanks for Sharing!|

|Water Dog||BTW, when I assembled my basket, I didn't cut off the ends of the cross tie pieces that the op did. I just recentered the pieces and used the existing holes in the ends to drill new holes in the basket border piece.|

|Neal5280||Sold this is a great idea. Probably going to get my basket tomorrow!|

|PitViper||Thats a great idea. Its got me thinking of picking maybe 3 up and use the for cargo racks up top. Beats paying 300-500 for a larger basket on top of the 300-500 for the mounting rails.|

|sblindgren||Fantastic idea! ! ! Just getting back from Moab and trying to strap things down in the back of my TJ was difficult to say the least.|

These look great, what are the interior dimensions of that rack?
Also, I run a bestop halftop that wraps around the middle roll bars. Any idea how to attach the back of the rack (closest to the seats). I was thinking running a vertical bar down from the soundbar area.

|jeepinmike||I have the exact rack sitting in the garage for the same project....got it on sale and had one of the coupons from magazines, so I got it cheap, but it has been sitting for awhile....I think you have me motivated again|

|Water Dog||Well, I finished mine. I decided to run my aluminum the other direction and just set it and clamp it down to the tub since I won't be using it in conjunction with the top anyway. I also had a couple of high lift hood brackets on the shelf so I figured I'd just mount them on the back. I think this is going to be real handy on the trails. Thanks for the idea.|

|Water Dog||Hey MrRubicon, How sturdy is that in the center? Would you feel comfortable putting a loaded ice chest on it?|

|Neil F.||After looking at it, that won't work with the soft top. It would be in the way of the bows. What I thought of doing is to make a X platform across the middle.|

Noted! Nice work.
Can you take a pic from the side? I have a deck cover and somewhat frequently use the rear seat though most of the time leave folded up.
I'm thinking I would like to put something like this in for trips to stack more gear above the deck cover (rather than ontop of it directly) and keep everything in with safari straps or something similar.

|Neil F.||That is a fantasic idea! When I go camping, I have the back piled up to the to of the roll bar and strapped down. If I did something like this, I could do two tier instead of one big mound. Mounting the basket close to tub level, the stuff on the bottom would not get tied down. I probably could leave the hitch facing front or back so it stil could be mounted in the receiver. My basket is a bit smaller but making some sort of cross brace will be possible. Of course as soon as I get home, I'm breaking out the basket to see how it will fit.|
