Well did get this one at all. Dealer didnt have any feedback or even a look of concern/shock when I told him everything that was wrong. Even handed it to him in writing hoping he would just say that they can do the repairs, but all I got was ok thanks I'll go get your keys.
Well that's fine I picked up a local one owner 2011 Unlimited from the actual Jeep dealership across the street with 33k miles and paid a couple grand more than this 2008. Is it wrong that I drove the this Jeep around while test driving other jeeps?
I guess now that I'm "officially" a jeep owner I should post up an introduction.

Picked up the Jeep for a 24hr test drive and inspection at a local shop.
Just got back from Pungo Off Road who did a through inspection of the suspension and they found the following:
1) Exhaust leak - nothing major like rusted through, but its a connection point behind the drivers door
2) Small leak in fuel line
3) Blown/Broken BDS steering stabilizer - Apparently the model on there is known to have issues
4) Passenger rear upper control arm is bad - hyme joint is very loose where it screws into the actual control arm
5) Drivers front ball joint - A LOT of play + boots are torn
Owner suggested that for what I am trying to get this for that I might be better off getting a new 2012 or 2013 and just get that one lifted. Might cost me 4-5K more than I want to pay right now, but saves me from 'finding' something else substantially wrong a few days, weeks or months down the road.
He also said they could do a similar lift and tire combo on a 2013 for around $3500 which is what I figure the current lift/tire combo would have cost several months ago.
Is it worth me going back to the dealer in the morning and telling them whats wrong and then offering $2500 less than what I originally offered? I know it shouldn't cost that much to fix, but buying it also opens me up to spending more money in the long run if there are other issues I'm not aware of right now. PLUS, it has a crappy aftermarket radio, sub and alarm that I don't really like. No clue what the alarm does other than chirp since it has manual locks. Yes getting just a little nit-picky now.
Any additional opinions would be helpful.

I've received permission to take it for the inspection, however I'm still waiting for the "Sales Manager" to review the offer I sent in with what I want to pay for it. I also made it very clear that unless we agree on the $$$ side of things first I am not going to pull money out of my pocket for the inspection.
Hopefully I will hear some back later today. If not I will just swing by the dealership on the way home from work tonight and wrap it up in person.

|BadOleRoss||To be honest it sounds like you have done your homework and are pretty much looking at everything you should be looking at. You might be right about the 3.73s or a 2008 not having much in the way of guts. I'd take it for another test drive and make sure that something you are OK with. Be on the lookout for signs of death wobble!|

Questions before buying my first Wrangler
Been a lurker for a while, but just joined and this is my first post so please bear with me as I have a few pre-purchase questions to run by who ever wants to chime in.
I've owned two full size Broncos in the past and both were lifted. My first one was running 33's and a 3" body lift while my bigger one was running 37's and a 6" lift so I'm not unaccustomed to the 4x4 world and all of the FUN that comes with having one. However, I've never bought one that was pre-lifted or modified or have I ever bought a Wrangler so I just want to make sure I'm looking for the right things when considering this jeep.
Right now I'm currently talking to a local dealer about a lifted 2DR 2008 Jeep Wrangler X w/61k miles.
They are asking almost $18k for it, but I've already told them that I'd be happier in the $16k range and they seem willing to talk price since they've had it for going on two months at this point.
The following was recently installed within the past 4 months by a mostly reputable, but slightly over priced local 4x4 shop:

So right off the bat that's $2000-$2500 minimum worth of lift/wheels/tires and assorted install costs that I wont have to spend.
I've talked to the shop that did the work and for $85 they will do a full inspection of the suspension and 4x4 systems as a 'pre-sale' check as well as fully re-torque everything. IF I do decide to buy it then that $85 also buys me a lifetime of re-torques every 6 months for free. But, it also gives me the piece of mind knowing that everything under the Jeep is in working condition and Im not picking up something I have to sink $2k into two months down the road because I didn't know the 4x4 wasn't working correctly or something similar.
I've driven it (unfortunately with the dealer in it) and it drove surprisingly well. Little or no slop in the steering wheel and the alignment was almost perfect. Has an aftermarket exhaust or at least a muffler as the sounds is different then most Ive heard in the past.
Per the build sheet I received this morning it has the 3.73 Rear Axle Ratio which I know is a plus, but honestly @ 60mph it felt like thats all it had. I was able to get it up to above 70 for a little bit, but it didn't like that at all and was happy cruising at 60mph and below 2k RPM's. At that speed and even at 75 (going downhill) it was baby smooth. So I guess one of my questions would be does that speed sound right for this setup? I know these are not the quickest cars in the worlds, but I guess I just expected more.
Also, the top on the drivers site right by the door doesn't seem to 'clip' into place. You can kinda see it in picture #3. I'm not sure if they took if off and put it back on wrong, but I will be getting that looked at by the local shop as well.
Well I've rambled on, but hopefully provided something to base some feedback on so please feel free to tell me what else I should be looking for before pulling the trigger on this Jeep.
