|LewdDude||thats why I like this fix as it still chimes 5 times with the light on the dash to remind you, but does not nag you to do so! LOL|

You should wear a seatbelt. That said, this works. No lights, chimes, etc.
Under the seat is a wiring harness for the seatbelt. You may have another (prewired) for the seat heater. Find the electrical connector on the harness that goes to the seatbelt. Unplug it and insert a safety pin or paperclip to "close the circuit). You can put a piece of electrical tape on it to keep it in place.
You vehicle will always think you have your seatbelt on.
You should not do this if others drive the vehicle, or on the road (you should wear your belt).
I used to tow a toy hauler trailer and would occasionally have the door open while backing in reverse on my curved driveway. The horn would sound if you weren't buckled.

|Rubiconjeepster||It does work, but still chimes 5 times when you first start up, then when going down the road doesn't chime! Love it...|

|LewdDude||I did it this morning. You turn the key on to 2nd position with the seat belt buckled and wait for the seat belt light to go off. Then unbuckle 3 times ending with it buckled. When you turn the key off it chimes once. Then unbuckle. When you start the jeep it will come on and ding as normal a few times but then does NOT chime going down the road. I just left work for lunch and it still does not chime going down the road. It does however chime when you first start the vehicle, but that's it. This is perfect! Happy trails! Be safe!|

|PRWhitby||I did get the single chime when I turned the key to "Off", but it still chimes when I test it.|
|06-13-2013 07:52 AM|
Here is the list (Same as others) that I followed. It took me 3 or 4 times to finally get it to work but when it did, I got the confirmation chime at the end that say it worked. I tested it out after and yes, it did work for me in my 2013 Sahara Unlimited.
Get in jeep and close the door.
1. Before you put the key in the ignition, buckle the driver’s seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position (engine does not need to be running), and wait for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.
3. As soon as the Seat belt light goes off, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver’s seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.
4. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.

|PRWhitby||I also love the published instructions. In step 2, they're very clear to say "do not start the engine." However, in step 3, they now say, "Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle..." So does that mean that after you wait for the light to go off, then you actually start the Jeep, then do all the unbuckling/buckling?|

|Rubiconjeepster||Mine still chimes help!|

Maybe I need to make a video of this so someone can see what I'm doing wrong. Clearly it ain't working for me.
Here is specifically what I'm doing:
1. Get into Jeep; close door.
2. Buckle seat belt.
3. Turn key to "On" (2nd position (1st = accessories, 2nd = On, beyond that = Crank))
4. Wait for the seat belt light to go off.
5. Unbuckle, buckle; unbuckle, buckle; unbuckle, buckle (all 3 within 15 seconds).
6. Turn key to "Off" and remove key.
8. Open & close door.
9. With seat belt unbuckled, I turn back to "On". Still chimes.
Are there other "waiting periods" that I need to be inserting?

|jkmohican||Yeah I just saw this thread and tried it and mines off now. Only the little light. Now I have to figure out how to shut off my stupid tpms light...|

|06-12-2013 05:55 PM|
|dpostman||after you turn the key to "on" you must wait for the seat belt light in dash to go off before you do the unbuckle-buckle sequence.|
|06-12-2013 05:35 PM|
Nope. Door closed.
Buckled seat belt.
Put key in; turned to "On" (did not start).
Unbuckle, buckle, unbuckle, buckle, unbuckle, buckle.
Turned key to "Off".
Opened / closed door.

I disabled mine. I also wear my seat belt all the time on street and highway. But during hunting season, when just idling down a dirt road at 5 or 10 mph, and we keep jumping in and out of our truck/jeep or whatever, we don't wear seat belts.
|06-12-2013 04:45 PM|
|Abdul-Hakeem||What is worse, whatever tells the Jeep the belt is buckled broke in mine. So even though I wear it 100% of the time, the warning is going off every minute or two. I can't program it because it doesn't detect buckling or unbuckling. I've just stopped caring, it doesn't bother me any more, but passengers HATE it.|

|Up Hill Bill||
But, I do NOT wear the belt when working close to deep water, where any mistake and I'm in the drink. Learned that from tractor work - I think you'll find that advise in some equipment safety instructions - used to any way.
|06-12-2013 03:05 PM|
|PRWhitby||For me, I have OCD "issues" with chimes. While I do always wear a seat belt, I don't normally get buckled in before starting the Jeep. Compounded when I used to go to an oil change place, and they have 3 vehicles in the bays, all with the doors open, and key in the ignition, all chiming away. I start freaking out and have to leave.|
|06-12-2013 02:40 PM|
|derf||Why wouldn't you wear a seat belt? That disables the chime and the light on the dash. And it keeps you from getting killed or seriously hurt in a crash.|
|06-12-2013 02:13 PM|
|Argent||or you could just put your seat belt on like everyone else|
|06-12-2013 02:09 PM|
|Xena1||I went to the junkyard and got two seat belt clips (ends) and clip them in. No chimes or lights. Older jeep ones work with a little grinding to get size right.|
