Oz82 I use synthetic in everything I own and nothing has less than 110k miles (well maybe the lawn mower). Changing to synthetic stopped a leak in my son's Mazda pickup, and it's burning less as well.

As with anything, YMMV.

ptorro I have a 96 Cherokee and a 88 YJ both over 150k and I'm using Amsoil synthetic 15,000 miles between oil changes with no problems and when I do change my oil still clean. Check with your local Amsoil dealer for more information. Also I do use Amsoil on all my vehicles, three more. Highly recommend using Amsoil just make sure you don't have any leaks I change a few gaskets on my jeeps prior to switching over to Amsoil and trust me no oil stain on my driveway. Amsoil also sale an engine flush to use prior to making the change

Speedy4x4 A far as not switching back to conventional oil...
If that was true would they make blends?

I've done it before on a 95 Mazda mx3 during one oil cycle there is a waxy build up that flushes away after the engine warms up.
After you change your oil again its gone

Dac7529 I use valve high mileage part synthetic. But I've been told not to use full synthetics. Only problem I see with it has already been stated full synthetic will have a tendency to leak in places you may not have known you had a leak.

JD95YJ I use high mileage synthetic as well, in my 4.0 and have no issues whatsoever.

StanF I put high mileage Mobil 1 synthetic in my 2.5L at the last oil change...

Speedy4x4 Any leaks you have will be worse.

Find a good source of info.
So you can separate fact from myth.

I run Castrol I'm my 95 2.5l without any problems.
Holds good pressure and doesn't leak.
No valve ticking.
I dropped my pan and pulled my valve cover and cleaned out sludge before switching. Didn't wanna get my brand new spendy oil dirty right off the bat.

Although I've heard the 4.0l I6 (I assume that's what you have) leaks more.

haroldpo6 No V6 came in a 95. Most sites say don't do it with a high mileage engine.

Megamonster I changed the oil after purchasing my 91 yj and put synthetic in it? So far so good.

95 YJ wanting to go synthetic...?

I gotta do an oil change on the jeep and was wondering if its ok to switch to synthetic since I have some already. I know once you go synthetic there's no going back but is there anything I should be worried about? It's a V6 automatic if that matters...

Any and all feedback really appreciated.
