Adding lights - Need power

Just bought a 2013 Jeep 4-door Sport unlimited. I'm a volunteer firefighter and am wanting to add some red lights to my Jeep I'm gonna mount them at the top of the windshield but was wondering where to hook up power.

I've seen some of the buttons to add on A post and bottom of dash. Quadratec sells a 12 Volt Power Adapter which they say uses Jeeps "CANbus" system and that is the accessory adapter to get. Also wanting to add my GPS and hardwire it.

Is the Power Adapter really the way to go, or should I fuse everything off the battery?

Thanks for any help
