|Jsb0032||Update on my rampage frameless: I've had mine for a little over a year and though I have no leaks or any major problems all 4 of the interior straps have dry rotted and snapped off. This includes the 3 straps that hold my back window to the top of the safaris top. It's no bi deal because it zips on the sides and has Velcro on top just below these straps so it still doesn't leak but it makes more noise now. There is also a strap inside that goes from my sound bar to the windsheild that holds the top tight that just snapped yesterday. Again, no big deal just makes more noise now. The weird thing is that the 2 straps that holds the safari to the back of the Jeep and is exposed to the elements are still in good shape.|

Thanks! What I didn't mention is that I took it out of the box and left it baking inside the Jeep for 1 day. It was a pretty easy install and there was 2 of us putting it on.

|DBoat||Glad to see things turned out well. I didnt have any issues with mine at all. I will say that I tried to install it the first time and it wasnt hardly 70 outside and I was in the shade. So it took two of us cussing and pulling to get it on. I waited until a week or so ago to try the sides and back. Well, I live in Dallas and it was plenty warm and they went on darned easy. I am guessing that with me having it on the Jeep now for a few months and being in the sun some, when I go to put the top back on, (I plan on running my spiderwebshade this summer) I wont have too much of a problem.|

Got the replacement top on with no issues. I left it laying out in direct NC sunlight for 5 hours and it loosened up great. I'll post pics in the "What I did to my TJ today" thread since I also added mirrors.
Again, thanks for all the comments and suggestions. It helped!

And you got 2 pieces of free foam
|06-18-2013 01:40 PM|
The customer service at rampage is great. I lost the foam inserts a year or 2 after I purchased the top and they sent me a few no questions asked. Also been quick to respond to questions via email.
I do have an occasional issue with leaking along the passenger side above the door. Not entirely sure why it happens when it does.
All things considered I love the top. Great price, the windows are huge, and once you get the hang of it the top goes on and off no problem.

|SHADYDC||i got them to exchange the tops for no cost. i returned the rampage and header and they sent me a trek top. now i have all the extra parts left from my original soft top to sell and re coop some more $$|
|06-18-2013 01:07 PM|
What I did was buy the trektop with all the new hardware and now I'm just going to flip the old stuff to offset the difference a little. I have door surrounds, tailgate bar, clips and a windshield channel to make up some of the difference. I do have to admit the design of the rampage is pretty nice, but the issues with stitching being unfinished and leaking put a bad taste in my mouth. I had leaks from 3 different spots and the worst one was right above my head lol.
And the CS from rampage wasn't all that great but 4wddotcom made my exchange issue free. They even called me when they received my top and made sure the whole transaction went perfect.

|Jsb0032||I originally wanted the trek top for the sun rider feature but after cruising in safari style I actually prefer it to totally topless. I get all the fun of open air cruising yet I am still in the shade. Besides the cost I also chose rampage because of the ability to carry my windows. I live 3 hrs from beach that's a long drive in the rain w/o windows. I agree that rampage CS sucks. It took over a month to get mine after order but truckaddons dealt with them for me.|

the extra cash was my reason for going with rampage first. but if you need all the hardware and surrounds the prices are pretty close. for me, now i have 2 sets of everything lol and i didnt have to pay the extra to upgrade to the trek top since i had so much trouble. both tops look much better than the factory ones. i like having the support bar in the rear so it doesnt sag too

|blkrubi88||From what I've read, Rampage had better reveiws than Bestop. Plus I would rather have the feature of the window storage vs sun rider option. I feel like Bestop should give you two options on their top, one with the surrounds and tail gate bar and clips, and other option at a cheaper price without all that stuff you May not need.|

|Ellisa1029||They only thin I saw that concerns me is the window frame rail I have the door surrounds and the tailgate bar! Do both of them or only one of them come with the window frame rail?|
|06-18-2013 07:25 AM|
best thing you can do is stay away from rampage, it was a month long nightmare until i finally swapped to the best top and love it. much nicer quaility, plus all the new hardware and sun rider feature is worth the extra money. to add rampage customer service is worst ive ever delt with. thank god quadratec handled the problem for me and let me exchange.
i ahvew to disagree there blue, i like the look of my best top much better than my rampage

|Jsb0032||I love my rampage. Got it last year for just a little over $300 from truckaddons. They advertise higher but at that time beat any price so look around online find the best price then call them try will beat it or give u $50. I can't really compare the 2 tops since I've never had a bestop but to I have no complaints from my rampage. Took about 30-45 min to put up the 1st time now I can get it to safari in about 5 and carry my windows with me which bestop can't. Been through some very heavy thunderstorms and no leaks. The problem I saw with bestop is that it does come with surrounds, and tailgate bar which u don't need if u already have a soft top so it seems like a waste of money|
|06-15-2013 08:41 PM|
|blueskiesbill||The bestop is more expensive and IMO looks like a rampage bowless top with a bad toupee|
|06-15-2013 07:42 PM|
|Ellisa1029||Okay awesome the only thing that might steer me away from that one is I have all of the parts needed besides the window frame add on! But I def love the race back look if it!|
|06-15-2013 07:34 PM|
|KBR97||Ellisa look into the Bestop trektop nx. It's a little more money but a far superior product in my opinion. Also comes with all the hardware which includes door surrounds, tailgate bar and clips, and also uses a real header.|
|06-15-2013 05:00 PM|
|Ellisa1029||Okay great! I will do that! Also I was trying to do some mor research on them is there a difference In name or price for the too with the built in sleeves do the windows or the one without?|
|06-15-2013 04:54 PM|
|06-15-2013 02:49 PM|
|Ellisa1029||How much ( if you don't mind me asking) did you pay for it! I am looking into getting one for my 97 TJ?|
|06-15-2013 02:06 PM|
|blkrubi88||I don't worry about mine and rain, backseat stays out (unless I need it), carpet has been out and floor herculined for three plus years. It stays safari top and no doors all through summer.|
|06-15-2013 01:43 PM|
|blueskiesbill||Also food for thought. Knowing that the top was not an easy up, I bought bestop seat covers. They are not a super tight fit, but man are they ridic waterproof! I just keep a shamwow (spelling?) cloth in the jeep and wipe them down when the doors are off. My drain plugs have not been in since I owned the jeep, carpet will be coming out soon and bed lining her too. The doors and windows have not been on all summer and has rained multiple times. Ok it sucks a little when I have to drive through the rain, but the seats covers have made all the difference with not being able to throw the top up as quick. Pretty much ride safari all the time.|
|06-15-2013 01:14 PM|
|blkrubi88||I found out, that in a real heavy down pour that my ten year old factory soft top (which us still in real good shape and took five inches of rain that day to discover) will leak, so I will be ordering the Rampage frameless top in a couple weeks.|
|06-15-2013 12:55 PM|
|biggus35||I put the top part on by myself. It was difficult but not impossible. I did not even try to put on the side and rear windows. Just stored them away in the top storage section. Getting my ac worked on again next week and may try to put the rest of the top together. Will be extra careful since reading your post. Thanks!|
|06-15-2013 12:07 AM|
|Madden||I just put mine on about a week ago and left it out in the sun/rain all week, that seemed to stretch it out a little because it was a million times easier to put on the second time around|
|06-14-2013 11:41 PM|
|O_M_Jeep||x2 on warm days only, during the winter I don't unzip the back window more 60%-75% of the way up.|
|06-14-2013 09:40 PM|
|slayer74||Bill, I'll take your advice when the new "new" one gets here. Thanks!|
|06-14-2013 09:37 PM|
|blueskiesbill||It is def a great top. Not a top that you put on by yourself, at least for the first year or so. And only on warm days too. I found that if I had a large gap between zippers or it was too tight for me and a buddy to do, I probably lined something up wrong. I also noticed that it fits much better if you remove the padding on your bars.|
|06-14-2013 09:32 PM|
I'm just worried about water getting into the back. Its a pretty big gap. There would be no way of getting everything lined up to keep it water proof.
I agree that I think its the best top around. I really dig it. Thanks for the moral support! I didn't mean to get so pissed.
I was gonna list my old top on here tonight. Guess I'll hold off for just a little while! Lol...
