Jason1348 Any chance someone replaced the tub and stickers were on it?
06-25-2013 09:17 PM
rumblehawk I have the build sheet, it shows all the upgrades too. I think I will have the decals changed. Someone goofed in my favor.

The VIN is always right, not sure why someone would sticker down a model...
You got lucky!

Jason1348 Yes there a ton of rubicon fakes had a guy join are club and took him out with us to find out on the side of a nasty rutted hill it was just stickers he said

MarkGLHS not too unusual to see someone try to make their TJ into a higher model. lots of phony Rubicons out there. scrape off those phony decals, get the right ones for your X and enjoy. before you do that post up a pix I am curious to see how well they faked the Sahara.

gcan now I know, got the build sheet...it's an X that now has color matching fender flairs and Sahara decals??
Thanks for all the input

If your TJ has an aftermarket diff cover the standard rubber plug D35/metal fill plug D44 identifier will not work.

You will have to go by the shape of the diff. Oval-ish D35. Stop sign-ish D44.

D35

D44

They went away from the 2 tone seats in 03. The 04 of ours you've seen many times is a Sahara and the interior including the seats is Khaki which is nowhere near the same color as the Tan on the Tan and Green seats that were in our 99 Sahara.

Teague242 Take some pictures of this jeep mate. Or else check the build sheet.

flflash I use this to verify Jeep options. Fill it out and ask for your option codes/build sheet.

BTW The Sahara had a lot more permutations then most people realize, I owned a 97 Sahara bought it new genuine Sahara. Green, Tan soft top tan interior, 4.0, Auto, 44 without locker in the rear 30 in the front, 4.10 gears, AC, Cruise and tilt wheel.
Rolled it over a exit ramp guardrail in the rain on 295 in Jacksonville Florida....totaled with 24k miles on it and a half empty payment book in the glovebox

TJDave Don't forget about the limited edition TJ they made after the movie "Sahara". It's a 2005.
My club's President owns one.

Rubicon Unlimited Sahara - 2005 only
* 1,000 made
* Chrome grill
* Tail light guards
* Interior badge with serial number
* Spare tire cover and floor mats

So an X cannot be a Sahara, but a Sahara can be a Rubicon, but only in a 2005 Unlimited. Lol!

Best to just contact Jeep with your vin # to find out how your Jeep was equipt from the factory.

sounds like someone slapped a Sahara sticker on an X. doesn't surprise me after seeing all the X's and Sports with Rubicon hood decals on them.
Over here there are Sahara models upto 2006. 2004 models here have twe two tone tan/ black interior with black centre bezel and the 2005/6 models gave the gray interior with silver centre bezel.

I remember when I saw a 99 tj sport with rubicon stickers on the hood with the sport stickers still on the side. I laughed my ass off

Correct. They also moved to away from the strap to a plastic lever for the tilt and slide.

In the case of South African models either tan fabric or charcoal leather.

UFOtestpilot Maybe I missed it while skimming, but I would send an email to Chrysler requesting a build sheet on the VIN, not "decode" it with some potentially hokey information. The actual build sheet will dispel all rumors and/or doubts. They took a day or so to email me mine.

03 sahara jeeper The plug with the 5 wires behind the back seat is for the rear window defrost on a hard top.
06-16-2013 05:19 PM
gcan there is a square plug with 4 or 5 wires going to it on the drivers side just behind the back seat, I assume that is what from the switches. But they will be great if I add fog lights!

the rear diff has a rubber plug and the front has a steel plug

TJDAVE - you are right on, my wife loves the jeep which is why I said I don't plan to try to take it back to the guy....honestly I'm just learnig the differences, I bought the Jeep based on the price and looks not the model or series.
I'm just trying to learn the difference in case I have to order parts or such

03 sahara jeeper The best thing to do I like stated above, is to get a build sheet.
