tomkatt116 so after ripping the carpet out and cleaning everything and rhino lining the tub and adding a new clutch set and alternator and all that i was able to get her back to running again. recently i bought a cj7 rollcage and used the front part of it to make my cage a trail cage (i got it for 60 bucks and it was used) and the last trip to uwharrie i finally had a decent spotter with me and i went up daniel trail. wasnt as bad as i figured it would be but challenging either way. ill upload some video of that soon but i broke my front drivers side shackle mount off the frame!! i have a new one at home now i just have to find time off work to put it on

and im planning a rebuild of sorts my plan is to

fix shackle mount
replace motor mounts
new starter
new rear leafs
make new rear shock mounts
new rear spring perches
1" lift boom shackles
header
5.0 injectors
4.0l throttle body
weld rear bumper to frame
sye and driveshaft
and add some more tube to my cage and frame tie ins as well
so as im doing these things ill post pics and as always and criticizim is welcome

tomkatt116 so its been a long time since i posted anything on here about my jeep or been on here at all for that matter but i have been wheeling and breaking and fixing it hell even my wife has broken it lol ill post up some pics once i get them into photo bucket
11-26-2013 08:56 PM
tomkatt116 i think for now im gonna just work on the things that i believe are wrong with my jeep and keep it on 35s.. for now but i do have to say that regearing was the best thing i could have ever done to mine
11-25-2013 07:14 PM
TravYJ I have bfgoodrich 35s on my yj, there great but i need more power from my 4.0. I love the pics i have the same Jeep
11-24-2013 11:09 PM
OregonPlinker 35s are nice... lol
11-24-2013 10:46 PM
tomkatt116 im also thinking about metal cloaks and 35s what do yall think
11-24-2013 10:31 PM
tomkatt116 yes a 2 piece axle shaft in the front d30 of a yj on the passenger side there is a vacume actuated disconnect if you look on the last pic you can see the 2 piece shaft and solid shaft side by side if you have any more questions let me know and yes the right tools are a great thing to have as well as know how and a awesome forum to go on ans ask lots of questions i hope to be able to wheel soon and maybe get some action shots but right now its not looking to promising with work and holidays and the military but i will post pics asap lol
11-24-2013 09:58 PM
samizdad Thanks for the update. I was wondering how it was coming. Seems you've been busy. I learned tonight how "helpful" it is to have good tools and an air compressor when owning a Jeep. I believe a torch is in order next.

Wondertwin1 2 piece front axle shaft?!
11-24-2013 02:44 AM
tomkatt116 then ab 2 weeks after that we went wheeling and i busted my windshield a little on a low hanging branch i didnt see in time and then about 30 minutes later i broke my passenger side axle shaft trying to pull a 72 f150 out of a hole

Attachment 538346

so it gave me a perfectly good reason to swap in a solid cherokee shaft ive had waiting on the right moment

Attachment 538354

and thats pretty much up to date on where im at right now. as on now im working a lot and my wifes truck is down so i cant really wheel in case i break something so im at a pause in fun for the moment but it wont be long let me know what you guys this so far

tomkatt116 about a week after this we decided to go on a camping trip it would be me my wife my friend that helped me haul and fix the jeep and his girlfriend and we camped at some trails we knew of here locally unfortunately no action pics still but some nice poser shots lol

tomkatt116 the next day i went put and got a piece of 2x4x3/16" tube and some 1/4" channel to fix the frame and decided that the passenger side looked a lil rough to so we would replace it as well and after 2 days she was back to normal

tomkatt116 and now to the fun part ab an hour after those pics were taken we were almost back to pavement and about to head home when i noticed when i turned my steering wheel full lock to the right the wheels were barely turning and it ended up that my frame was rusted pretty bad behind the steering box and chose at that time to break. although i was glad it happened at the end of the trail and not on the highway i was a little upset anyway. so we limped her to my buddies house and got her on his trailer and took her home
