Rock Kicker Lol, so I must have looked like an idiot...
JKU pulls up behind me, then begins to pass. As he starts to get in front of me I notice his gas cap door open and cap hanging out. I start pulling up next to him at a light to tell him. I wave to get his attention, shout out the window, point, honk...the guy just wouldn't turn his head in my direction. He finally does as the light turns green, then just gives me the, "alright, alright, I'll wave..." Then floors it. He'll see it next time he goes to gas up, along with possible minor scratches from it slamming over and over against his paint...along with a possible bad seal, evap code on the engine light, or even just a plain ol' missing cap...I tried, buddy.

Daisy Stormtrooper I always get compliments on my JK from the teens at the drive-thru windows. (Don't judge my unhealthy eating habits! )
The other day, two kids were talking to me at the Chick Fil A window, and one said, "one of these days I'm going to get a Jeep like this!"
I smiled, told him about the Wave ("Google it--it's a real thing.") and his buddy pipes in with....(get ready...)

"Subarus do that too! Subaru drivers have a special wave to each other too!"

Yoga-Mud-Sand Thanks everyone. I was starting to get discouraged that I wasn't getting the wave returned. Some weren't even looking at me. But I've determined to wave at every jeep. I tell myself that I'm waving as a salute to the history and sacrifice of the jeep. Not the driver. If they return the wave or not is no longer as big of a concern.......BUT I SURE DO GET HAPPY WHEN THEY DO!

generally the more modded a jeep is the more people wave, im not sure if it makes them more noticeable or if it just changes peoples reactions but I have found it to be true.

Mad Mac Hmm. I too have had the impulse to wave to Jeeps when I am driving one of my non-Jeep vehicles. I'm new here, but maybe the Jeep wave should be expanded to include when not in your own Jeep. Then Jeep drivers would know that the other person is also a Jeep enthusiast, just not in their Jeep at the time.

Lol, funny timing. I got a wave from a school bus driver wearing a Santa hat today. Waved back out of auto-reaction then thought, did that just happen?

Kadonny I probably get 75% response back...pretty good I think.

Jancie I am getting return waves when driving my mail delivery jeep now. I think I throw people off because they don't expect a mail delivery person to wave especially since I am driving a stock JKU with RH drive but even the modified jeeps are waving back to me now.

muchomacho I am so glad to hear all of you jeepers are keeping the wave going. I just moved to South Florida and bought my 4th Jeep. I wave to everybody. tj's yj's four doors, stock or mod I love to wave. But I'll be honest people down here don't wave back. Maybe 1 in 15 is waving. The rest are stuck on their phones or look at me like I'm trying to start a fight. Keep the wave going.

The sun goes down and it's pitch black by 4:30/5 here. No daylight waves because people are death-gripping their steering wheels, lol. Snow and ice + steep grade mountain roads...I'd rather my wave be ignored than be hit by someone not paying attention. I don't really look at the other driver for a return, just raise a few fingers and keep my eyes strait ahead. I like adding and upgrading my TJ, not repairing it!

flyfishnevada I actually went five for five the other day. I was blown away. But then number six totally ignored me.

jrork Hah! Today, we just picked up our first Jeep after looking at them for years (test drove a new CJ5 in 1979) and couldnt believe the "Jeep Wave" we were getting. Lots to learn for sure

elise Jeeps at the Beach are good wavers! and Southerners are natural wavers. When I first got mine it was such an uplift to just go for a ride and get waves. Don't over-think it folks, just wave ~ ~ ~ \\wavey//

Next town over from me.The sad part is a lot of soccer moms will not wave back as they are totally ignorant to the Jeep wave and just see the Jeep as an 'SUV' like a Tahoe or a Suburban. But the Jeep wave is around an 80% with 20% being the soccer moms mainly.

Found this in the Jeep Memes thread. I totally disagree especially with the year that it supposedly died.

Are there specific Wranglers (year range, unlimited vs 2-door, modded), Jeeps (in general), or Built-Up (for offroading) cars that you'll wave to? Thanks. Again, this thread is simply to understand how others do it.
Cameron,
Wave threads come up often. We try and keep them all in one place. You'll notice the post was merged in with the official wave thread. I left a 1 day redirect.
