jyounk83 I am having the same issue with mine but you can at least get 10 mile...mine only runs until the fuel that is in the carb is burned up. Its driving me nuts trying to figure out what the heck is up. Did you ever find out what the issue was?

morphious d@#m glad i dont live in ca now up here i let my chev sit for a year and a half and it still started and drove fine ur gas must suck

My original problem might not have been the fuel filter to begin with. Any thoughts.
POS CA gas kilsl any engine.

if sat for more than 12 months, remove tank, remove all parts from in/on/around tank. take to local radiator shop-have it boiled out and pressure tested. after getting it back, blow out all fuel lines, replace all rubber parts, new FF and drive w/no probs. oh-and if carb-prob gonna have to at least remove and clean carb.

morphious i had this exact same problem on a chevy of mine a while back u either need to get used to swaping and blowing out fuel filters or get a new tank and don't get a junk yard tank unless u know its clean on the inside cost me more money trying to save money on junk yard crap then it would have to just buy a new one

Jon H It sounds like the gas sat in the tank long enought to eat away at the seals. After a while gas just goes bad and turns into a sludge basically. I would pull the tank and use a pressure washer inside it to clean it out but make sure you let it dry well, We had the same thing happen to our uncles 1959 chevy pickup.

Offroad_yj There are many variables in this situation, if the tank sat empty it could have rusted inside the tank.

The seals could have dry rotted in the tank from sitting so long.

Id pick up a cheap new fuel tank, and a new pump. clear out the lines or replace them if needed and go from there.

FireRoo My experience with motorcycle gas tanks that have been left to sit for a few years is that the insides of the tank break down after a few years and need to be replaced. I don’t know if your tank has a lineing inside though. I think your filter is not your problem. As for your pump letting bits through, maybe the screen on the filter has a hole? Or does not have a strong seal at the pump. Rust might of got in the line it self between the tank and filter.
