xxximpact05 I don't think I tested a single jk that diddnt fail a gas cap and most tj's were bad too so good advice.

The 25 miles and hour thing is from the traction control. There is a defeat button on the dash near the shifter. Will need to be re hit each time the Jeep is started again.

I'd also recommend a new gas cap before the trip to the E-tester. It's ten bucks at Napa that is well spent. About half of the Jeeps I hear about fail because of gas caps.

MRBILL4203 Finally got it all taken care but wanted to share some pictures. I had to go to the damn place 4 times. 1st for the tires, 2nd they said they couldnt access my tail pipe with out damaging there equipment, 3rd time i made it all the way thru then failed on the stupid gas cap pressure. So finally went back for my 4th time and passed all the way thru!! What a pain in the butt all that was!! Now who wants to go wheeling/camping this weekend?

ClayL Ya if anyone needs tires for emissions come see us at High Country Performance 4x4. well set ya up and point ya to the nearest E-testing place.

MRBILL4203 Wow!! I didnt know that getting your emissions done could be such a PITA for people. Thank You all for all off your advice...since i dont want to spend anymore money then i need to...i think i will go down to the garage and swap the wifes tires back to her stock ones so she can still get to work then put 2 of hers on the rear of the Wrangler.

That is cool of Discount and High Country to step up for us people with Bigger tires!!!

Gellato I had the same problem. I went to High Country Performance 4x4 and they let me borrow a set for the rear end. All they charged me for was the labor to swap the tires. There's an emissions place not far from their shop. It took longer to go through the emissions test than it did for them to swap the tire back and forth.

CoreyZ Just another example of government sponsored private companies that create and enforce laws involving citizens. They can even go so far as to deny you a test simply because the tires/wheels are not OEM, which happened to a friend of mine and her old BMW. She had upgraded 18" wheels and some low profile tires (not super low profile) and they turned her down. Her tires/wheels were the exact same size as my EvoX and they had no problem with mine. Just stated that it wasnt equipped that way from the factory and they didnt have to test it.

JFjeld I dealt with this in January, when I moved from out-of-state. I'd heard rumors about the 35s so went to the emissions shop in Longmont to ask around. He told me the cut-off was 34". My 35" Cooper Discoverer STT measured at 34".

So I just made it. Although I had issues since I had no tailpipe and they wouldn't test me. So I had to have a $60 tailpipe made and then was OK. But the tires passed.

Personally, I think its bs. I'm in Weld County (Frederick) and 'parts' of Weld are exempt from emissions, but not my location. Further, I have a street legal vehicle, so its not my problem that they didn't build their machines to accommodate it. I think they should reimburse people who have to jump through extra hoops (i.e., renting tires) to get tested, due to their restrictive equipment.

If companies want to see what excellent customer service is, see Discount Tire. Never had a bad experience there. They have always gone the extra mile for me so this doesn't surprise me.

Colo-TJ I think it's only a 10 day extension. But maybe thats just when you get one from private party and tag it yourself. Not sure

jasongind If he is running on temp tags go to the DMV, and for $15-$45 you can get up to a 60 day extension.

Not with Temp Tags....Temp tags have no grace period

Ok, first things first, calm down. If your resgistration says tomorrow, then the stickers on your plates say 06/13. IN that case you can legally drive until Jul 30 without braking the law. In Colorado you have a 30 day grace period, which starts after the last day of the month in which your registration expires

It says on their website you have to go through them twice at least two months before your registration expires.

This is the easiest thing to do.

When do your registration expire? You should have time to do the drive by thing still. They are usually on the clover leaf style on ramps, just hit it twice back to.

That is how i have gotten all my other vehicles done. The jeeps plates expiring kind of snuck up on me.

I have a 08 JKUR so i think they are different? Tj's are 5x4.5 aren't they? But let me know and thank you very much for the offer. It would be A lot easier doing it that way then having to take the wife's off her Jeep and leave it on jack stands!!

G-Rocc I have a set of rears you can borrow. That is what I do for mine. They are TJ bolt pattern if that's what you are looking for.

TheDesertOutlaw This is why you see pre-owned Jeeps (at used car lots) with smaller tires - normally 31s when the Jeep is set up for 33s.

MRBILL4203 Thats crazy....I cant believe it....33's are not that big of a tire. But i guess they are just being safe so they dont have to buy people a bunch of tires if they damage it. And its not like they can go around and make ALL the machines capable of fitting a bigger tire.

chuckr Some guys have been turned away with 33's even though the website says 34's.....I'd go with the smaller ones and be safe.
