Broken shifter boot bezel

I have a 2007 JKU and the bezel popped off around the shifter boot. Could I just use some self tapping screws and secure the bezel that way? Anyone have any recent experience with this? I have seen others drill out the fake screws and replace them, but self tapping screws seemed easier.
