Yeah, you have to be careful with the Chinese stuff. I lucked out and got an actual Mopar one. I also got Mopar Chrome lamp covers as well (for around $71 shipped), and hit them with the dip.

People have reported getting Chinese "Mopar" knock-offs on eBay. $66 is a very suspicious price. Lowest trusted source price is around $89 shipped.

|coelement777||I bought the $30 mopar locking gas cap when i got my JK. With a 18 gallon tank i am mainly concerned about fuel theft and it wasnt worth a extra $50 to me to have it keyed to the ignition key, im ok with carry around another tiny key.|

|Dozer13JK||Another vote for the MOPAR one here. I got a locking gas cap to go with it.|

|FIREMIA||I know you black hearts are the majority but JIC someone wanted to see the Mopar Chrome option and yes, the Mopar ignition keyed locking cap works with it also.|

I got the Locking RR for mine.
Rugged Ridge 11425.06 Black Aluminum Locking Fuel Door Cover : Amazon.com : Automotive
I've had no problems with it and I found it was solid enough for my use. I like that I don't have to lock it, there is a magnet that keeps the cover closed. But I have a Key in the jeep that I can chose to lock the cap should I feel the need to. Amazon says "Some drilling required" in the description but I did not need it.

I second the Mopar ignition-keyed gas cap and Mopar fuel door. I put that combo on mine.
I was more concerned with fuel theft, but I was reading some complaints (somewhere, can't recall the forum right now) about crud building up in the ignition-keyed caps and the lock failing after a couple of years -- necessitating the vice-grip removal method. I got the fuel door primarily to protect the cap, although I do like the appearance of it.
FWIW, getting the cap keyed to your ignition key can be an adventure. I bought one for my wife's 2011 and the parts guy keyed it with no problems.
When I got one for my 2012, the parts guy keyed the cap again, but messed it up (I think the pins in the pin kit got rearranged somehow), had to remove it with vice grips, and then order another one for me. End result of that was the dealership forbidding the parts department from keying the caps and forcing me to make an appointment so a service tech could key it instead.

I just orderer mine from my Jeep dealer, and they installed it for me without extra charge.

I got the RR one that fits over the existing one for Christmas (I should have been more specific).
I am NOT a fan of the very small self tapping screws that hold it on. Every time I fill up I am afraid I am going to rip it off. As soon as I upgrade a few other things I going to go all MOPAR on it.

|pepatrick||Yep..The Mopar in this case is by far the best looking mod. If you want a secure gas cap...get the Mopar locking gas cap that is keyed to your ignition key..then add the Mopar door on top. I love the combo.|

|st1264||I was thinking about getting one like the OP... when I saw most people had them around here, I decided not to get one. Would rather spend my mod money on other things. But if you like it, go buy it... as it's your Jeep to do whatever you like with it.|

|RB-10rubicon||Mopar nice quality ..take the time and paint the screws|

|shrwud96||Mine moved around a bit too which is normal. I took it back off and put a few dabs of silicone on back and now it doesnt move at all!|
|06-23-2013 09:21 AM|
I put the Mopar black door on mine also....looks good but it's got a bit more play than I like. Is it normal to be able to move it around a bit after it's clipped in place?
I didn't put mine on for protection from sugar but the original "cup" looked like a heck of a place for road slush to pool up in the winter and then freeze making it a pain to get the fuel cap off.

x12 on OEM fuel door.
Not a close up but it matches factory flares good. Also says JEEP like previous pic.
