steiner Definetely not getting a spark. I have already replaced the crank sensor which was my first guess when I didn't get a spark. 98-02 use the same distribtors. So I'm assuming that i need a distributor that matchs this engine. So...then what about the ecu? will 97 computer comunicate correctly with this enigne/distributor? What else am I missing?

You're right. I was assuming it was a 6 cyl.

97 TJ swapping engine with an 02...No FIRE!!! Help!

I bought a 97 Wrangler with an a new engine that needed to be installed. After install the new motor, I am just finding out the new motor is from an 02 wrangler. I've got the engine turning over; but, don't have any fire to the plugs. Its been suggested to me that the new engine can be convertered to work in my 97 jeep. Can anyone help with this?
