rstecher My wire was broken right at the connector, so I had to replace the component. Today I installed the Rugged Ridge skid plate, $92 bucks on EBay. It's heavy and well constructed to protect the Cannister, wires, and hoses. Considering what the connector cost I wish I had done this before I had trouble.

Yep, soldering worked on mine, still need to protect it better tho . Kinda of a bad spot for the can.

Evap control cannister wire

Yesterday, I got the "gascap" message on my unlimited. Checked the cap twice, and then hooked up my OBDII scanner and found the P0440 vacuum leak code. Cleared the code, but the "gascap" message stayed. I crawled underneath to check all of the vacuum lines and discovered a broken wire on the two prong connector on the Evap Control Cannister. Because the wire was broken right at the connector, I went to the dealer in Winchester, Va. to buy another connector. You won't believe how much a two prong connector with 6 inches of wire cost: $50 bucks! What a rip! I am going to have to buy the Evap Cannister skid plate to keep from having this happen again. Anyone else have this problem?
