Offroad_yj ... I think i'll just stick with my truck, although I did like someones Idea about selling my truck and using that money to buy a cheaper truck and another jeep, haha.

Heres my truck just for the heck of it.

Offroad_yj Well, like I said in my original post, I was the one doubting it would work.

As far as the trailer goes, you'd have to see it. It has a fullsize axle on it, without brakes, and fullsize wheels and tires.

When I referred to a landscaping trailer I merely meant the size, and lightweight of it, but definatley strong enough to hold the weight of a car (that can fit on it).

It has a steel frame, 2" ball, aluminum sheeted floor, braced with steel, safety chains, D-Rings, LED lights, the whole nine yards, Pretty much the same as a car hauler, just half the size. I can assure you it's 100% legal.

As far as any doubts on it, i'd say it would be 100% safer if he had an axle with brakes and a brake controller.

With the 4 cyl in that truck it does about 55-60mph TOP speed with the trailer behind it.

That landscape trailer will fall apart if you overload it with the YJ, when that happens, at highway speeds, the YJ will barrel roll down the highway killing anyone unlucky enough to be in its path.

This is, of course assuming you can get it up to highway speeds without rolling the entire rig or getting pulled over by the Police.

There are so many ways this can go horribly, horribly wrong, please do not do this.

Offroad_yj Thats what I figured..

In my thoughts I wouldnt be using a car trailer. A buddy of mine has a landscaping trailer that he tow's his geo gracker with, its very short and not too wide.

We put a jeep wrangler on the trailer, and it just barely fit, damn near rubbed side to side, and front to back.

And he pulls that trailer, with a geo tracker on it, behind a 2.3L mazda pickup.

i wouldn't even consider it. A car trailer alone can weigh up to 2000 pounds (max tow rating for a TJ) A jeep with coils doesn't have a enough of a heavy duty suspension to tow a trailer that size. The breaks aren't good enough (at least i wouldn't want to stop that trailer with a TJ) the wheelbase is too short.
Personally i wouldn't do it...

birdhunter I would say thats too heavy but more than just weight
is handling Jeep has such a short wheel base and high center
of gravity plus trailer with another jeep on top?
I think is asking for trouble even with trailer brakes

boat or a pop-up is alot lower

You hear about people using a tow bar jeep to jeep

I would sell the 05 2500 buy a 10-14g TJ
2g trailer, 5-7g for a older truck to use as tower
or something like that
or you could make your yj a off road monster
somewhere in there

cy76065 not sure of exact weight but I've done couple of popup campers with mine. Book says with tow pkg 3500 lbs.

I've got an 07 unlimited 4 door.

TeeJay Our group is made up of 2 wranglers and 2 cherokees. Part of our trail gear is 2 tow bars in case more than one breaks down.

I've pulled a loaded 32" tired XJ behind mine.

Is it safe? Not really, but it beats leaving your friends behind 400 miles from home and if you take your time and are very carefull everything ends up ok in the end.

Frat36 I used to tow a jetski with an older CJ. It worked much better than a larger SUV at towing the smaller trailer. A lot easier to back up with. The CJ had no problem towing it or even pulling it out of the water, then again a jetski isn't really the heavy.
