yoopone Also Discount Tire has a variety of locking lug nut keys. They are very helpful and if you buy tires from them for any of your cars they typically do all that type of service for you for free.

Locking Lug Nut Key....Lost

Thought I'd share my experience today with removing a locking lug nut without the key. I'm sure this is a trick most people know about but I for one did not until vice grips, channel locks and a large flat head screwdriver hammered into the channel of the lug nut all failed and I searched for a better idea.

I came across what seems to be the popular way of handling this issue which is hammer a 12 point socket on that is the size below what fits over the lug. This ended up being a 3/4" socket, the same size used for the standard lug nuts.

Anyway, I hammered it on as far as I could get it then used a hammer to tap the wrench to break it free. Worked like a charm. I even drove the lug out of the socket and its not damaged much at all. I used it to take the rest of the lugs off....
