Oops forgot pic. Definitely got a bunch of rust issues up there. When I replace it I'm gonna do both of them and scrape the rust and coat it with some POR-15.
On a related note, the bolts for the lower and upper mounts were all stuck like Chuck. I sprayed them with wd-40 a couple days ago and tried the lower ones today with a half inch drive and deep socket and it finally broke. Didn't try the upper bolts yet and they are a pain to get to.
Picked up some PB Blaster and blasted them all today again to hopefully get some movement tomorrow or Sunday. Man that shit blows wd-40 out of the water. I never used it before. Its like I could see it working right before my eyes lol

As for replacing it, I went to Autozone today and asked for a shock mount pin and we couldn't find anything in their computer that matched it. They are always out of Jeep shit anyway so its probably doesnt matter anyway.
Is this a dealer item or do you have a recommendation on where to pick one up? Is it hard to get it back into the shock padding? It was a son of a bitch to get out.

I'm not sure what you mean by disconnected? It is definitely not connected in the pictures, and that was the way I found it, so yeah I guess it is disconnected. I still haven't figured out exactly what it connects to. Is the shock mount bar supposed to then secure the shock to the frame?
I suppose in this case my shock is ok, but I need a new shock mount bar? I just don't really know what I need to do for this. Like I said before, anything below deck makes my head spin.

The rear shock bar pin is an easily broken part. Best to carry spares!
This replacement was made out of a crow bar!
A more quality piece of equipment is the Bar Pin Eliminator by JKS
This included hardware DOES NOT FIT PROPERLY - Be sure not to throw out your OEM hardware, it fits the shock mount area like a glove.

|Slater451||That's the shock mount bar. It's supposed to go all the way thru the eye of the shock with the slots on both sides.. That's we're the bolts attach the shock to the frame.. Was it disconnected when you crawled underneath ?|

shock absorber - I dont think its supposed to do that...
So I was replacing the fender flares I took off to bedline today and noticed there is something wrong with my rear passenger suspension.
Now I know enough to know that this is a shock absorber and it is a ProComp es3000 but I don't know much more than that or what to do about it. I think they are lifetime warranty but the fact that it rusted out is concerning.
That is rusted apart right? The end isn't just shaped like that?
I bought the jeep in October from a dealer who had a lot of mods put on it back in Feb 2012 to get it to sell. It sat on the lot presumably from Feb to Oct leaving it in less than stellar shape. My Smittybilt rear tire carrier XRC was put on at the same time and had rusted off by April this year, only 14 months later.
But I digress. I have been reading up what I can on suspension lifts tonight and it doesn't look too difficult to replace if it is just the shock abrobrr. I'm concerned that may be a piece of my frame broken off with it which would be problematic. It got dark soon after I took the pix so I didn't have time to get in there and investigate tonight. Will look at it tomorrow.
What do you guys suggest?
