boosh71 31s on my factory 15x8s here. Had to add a washer to the steering stops on each side to prevent rubbing. I plan on aftermarket wheels with less back spacing in the future. I believe you need at least a 6.5" wide wheel for a 10.5" wide tire. I'll have to check when I get to work tomorrow (tire shop).

Blu2002 Running stock Ecco rims with 31 x 10.5 Yokohama's with half tread. Had to put washers on one side as my passenger wheel was rubbing the lower arm on hard turns. I do need an alignment so that may have something to do with it.

Nope. Stock Eco rims, as I said. Zero rubbing.

Your wheels must have had less back spacing than stock wheels. But like we said if you have rubbing a few cents for washers fixes it easily.

Holton345 I have used 31x10.5 BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA/KOs on stock Eco rims with a stock suspension for nine years with zero rubbing of any sort, ever, even at full lock.

PiePuncher You need to adjust the stops. It takes 5 minutes w an impact wrench, if that. It will not affect your turn radius much if at all

If you forget or hit a rock/rut while turning and damage your side walls you will wish you took the half hour to prevent the problem.

Atthehop Have you added a couple of washers to the wheel stops. I run BFG AT 10.5s on Canyons and a couple of washers stopped the rub and you never miss anything on full turns.

Robertsk1 I had 32x11.5 on my 97 tj with the canyon style rims. Those rubbed bad when I would make relatively sharp turns.

Now i have 31x10.5 duratracs on the same rims and they don't rub on the control arms as bad, but if I max out the steering (which you shouldn't do anyway) they rub. Depending on your backspacing they may or may not rub more or less. There are ways to correct this such as adjusting the steering stops with washers so you can't turn sharp enough to a point where the tires rub. As for rubbing on the fender at full articulation, I cannot say because I've always had it lifted.

I know that the 31" will fit on a stock '97 Wrangler. Not sure about the 10.5 on the stock 15" rims. Any issues I need to be wary of?
