xsdbs @ LewdDude,
Hey, I was just looking thru this thread at some of the newer postings and noticed something about your pictures. The harness is not plugged in correctly to the module. You actually have that harness backwards. The end that has the 22 pin & 10 pin connectors go to the radio and the end that has a single 22 pin connector goes to the Uconnect module. The connector that you have the 10 pin connector plugged into is actually only used by the supplier for testing of the module before it leaves the plant. So it may be that you have the correct cable already.

Sorry- I wasn't clear. I meant to ask if one can stream music over Bluetooth without UConnect- only with a 430N. In other words, does the head unit itself have Bluetooth built in, or is a Bluetooth module part of the $230 mopar add-on UConnect package?

xsdbs LewdDude,
Sorry about my misunderstanding about your harness. That harness used to be integrated into the main IP (instrument panel) harness, it now must be optional.
Anyway here are PN's to look into:
1) Mic - 68002646AA
2) Harness - 68002648AA
Lett me know what price you get from the dealer. I may know someone that can help.

xsdbs CoreyZ, so the way I understand it is that the Uconnect harness is not integrated into the harness. Is this correct? Kind of strange because it used to be in the main harness. Good to know that and I appreciate the education today.

OK there are 2 kits for the Uconnect.

First kit is one that you buy AFTER the factory. It comes with a T (one male end, one female end) harness that plugs in between the radio harness and the radio. This kit usually comes with the black mic that has sticky tape on the bottom.

Second kit is the one that comes pre-installed at the factory(which is the one you got). It comes with the harness you have and plugs directly into the main wire harness of the vehicle just to the left of the radio. The mic that comes with this kit is what gets installed in the A pillar of the jeep which also plugs into the main wire harness.

You CAN find parts to make either work... but I believe that the website factorychyslerparts.com sells things individually. You can look up the kit with the same module you have (which btw is the same module between kits).

SO really... the dealer kinda half screwed you. They sold you a Uconnect out of a factory equipped Jeep that had the wire harness to plug into the main wire harness of the Jeep and not as an add-on.

btw... this kit *should* work for your jeep. I think we are a high speed bus though, so perhaps calling them up and double checking part numbers to be safe

CoreyZ Oh.. and my personal experience stems from removing my Uconnect kit, selling it to another member.. and him letting me know the harness doesnt work on his non-oem equipped jeep. Doing more research led me to this information. :-)

Hope it helps and sorry you had a bad run-in with a dealer. Always remember that unless its written down on paper at the time of sale, it doesnt count. You could also put in a call to the district rep for Chrysler/Jeep and see what they say about your experience and if they can help with the kit.

LewdDude it was my understanding that because this/my 430N was set up for Uconnect and has all the buttons already on it that the "Kit" was not needed as it comes with the additional buttons I don't need... Very frustrating this has become...

I am curious on how the harness was removed from the vehicle, it's taped into the main dash harness and would be quite difficult to remove. Depending on the harness that you have, the amazon mic shown by laollis would work.
When you called the dealer, he may have thought that you wanted to replace the factory mic, which in that respect you may not be able to just replace the mic body. It may come as a complete trim item. Meaning that a replacement would consist of the drivers "a" pillar plastic trim, the mic body and mic grill. Now he was wrong about not having a "stand alone mic", his would look identical to the one pictured in the amazon item listing.

After being told by the dealership that the 430N wouldn't work in my Jeep. I don't listen to anything they say now. LOL
Well, hopefully someone here will know for sure what will work. Good Luck!

Uconnect Module Mic help

I need a mic for my 430N RHB in my 2013 Sahara. Dealer tells me I can not order just the mic? He said he called parts and they said there is no such stand alone mic for the RHB 430N? He said only the RER... I don't think he knows what he is talking about as he mentioned it being part of the rearview mirror???? I thought it was run driectly from the 430N head unit to the driver side windshield pillar??? anyway, I have everything but the mic and USB. Can anyone help out here? Thanks!
