Welcome to the forum!!!
For that budget you will have to look at the YJ and TJ.
I am very biased love my YJ but think the TJ is the last of old school look Jeeps featuring a lot of great things first Jeep Wrangler on coils and better Fuel Injection.
You will have to look very carefully and make sure you don't buy a rust bucket or someone else's project gone bad. There are still some great stock garage finds for a decent price.

Hi!!! I need some recommendations :-)
I'm new to this forum. I am a former Jeep owner and had to sell it because it was a stick and I had a broken back. Now my back is fixed and I am going to get another Jeep. I'd love some feed back and opinions on "the best" to get. Keep this in mind - i know NOTHING about restoration, I would prefer a TJ or older, hopefully won't be my primary vehicle so I can go play in the mud and I'm looking for something under $5,000. I'm here for pointers and to learn - maybe I could do some restoration of my own. I can learn anything I put my mind to!
What is your favorite Jeep year? Why is that? Hook me up :-)
Please and thank you!!
