I think that the 2" AEV BB would be a great kit as is. I've looked into lifts a good amount, but am still learning myself. The main issues at 2" are, needing new shocks or extensions, bumpstops and extended or new swaybar links. With a rubicon I would guess shock extensions would be a solid option. The AEV looks like it addresses all those issues.

Teraflex also makes a very similar "leveling kit" for about $130. It gives you 2" spacers in the front and 1" in the back. The AEV 2" BB is 2" in the front and I think it's 1-5/8" in the back. I don't mind the rake, so besides price AEV would likely be my choice of the two.

TRACKBARS
From what I have read, I would guess you axle would shift about 1/8" to 1/4" @ 2" lift. At 2.5" of lift 1/4" to 1/2" axle shift. At 3" the axles can be 1.5" off as shown in a teraflex video.

PAPADOC Oh this is exciting times my friend...as soon as you start in on the mods you will be addicted. Like getting a first tattoo maybe?? Haficon's pics are pretty fricken sweet...so go with the "built not bought" concept. I did the same fender cuts on stock and they look great...even made my own mods to the directions with the gear that most will tel you to remove when doing a flat fender cut. Way better and stronger. I was in the same boat as you...yet I don't have a lick of automotive experience in my life. After one year I am comfortable taking on any project or mod myself. I will post a couple pics of my rig now...and after I install my own 3" lift as well. My downfall was buying Mud Terrains to replace the lame touring tires it came with...so money wasted because now I would go a completely different route with the mods I've made. I have yet to fail in any one project or mod. Good luck and just go at it mang...youtube is your reference friend, all to taste of course. My favourite story is buying a 25k+ vehicle...then buying a $40 reciprocating saw and cutting into it for the first time. Cheers

HAFICON Well I have to say Call Jason at Krawl Off Road they offer a Law-A-Way program. They have quality products at good prices that allows you to pay month by month then once paid.. new parts in the mail..

Look around on here should be easy to find pictures of 33s and no lift on flats.

Not what you asked for but.. here was mine with stock cut fenders and 32.2" stock tires. With no lift I did have rubbing at full articulation.




Now my 34.4 with no lift..


I have since added a 2.5" lift with 1" body lift

kjeeper10 If you want a little clearance check out the Rancho 2" sport. Front coils and rear spacers. 4 9000 adjustable shocks. People are snagging this kit for $300-$400 after the rebate. Rebate ends June 30'th though...

Rooster76 I think I personally would go with a 2.5" teraflex budget boost (BB) over flat fenders. If you have plans to do a proper coil lift later with 35"+ wheels, I can see how you would rather do the flat fender direction. With flat fenders and a 2.5" lift and 33" wheels it may start to look like roller skates. My personal opinion is that without some lift, the 4DRs look a bit dumpy. Critique my plan...

I'm not one for planning, nor do I have much in the way of patience when I want something (as evidenced by the JKUR in my driveway) However, I haven't yet found a money tree. So, here's "phase I" of my build plan. Wanted ya'll to check it and see if any of my assumptions are wrong before I drop dough. Never had a Jeep before, let alone modified one

I have a stock 13' JKUR. It's my DD and I plan to off-road 1 -2x per month (nothin' crazy at all). Ultimate goal is a full-on Lift with 35's and all the other goodies that will make it "mine" and a bad ass vehicle.

Ok, here's what I'm thinking for now.
  1. 285/75/16 Duratracs on Level 8 Trackers. Love the black wheels on Commando Green. Duratracs are reviewed as excellent for on road (rain, snow, etc) as well as off. Has the right off-set to fit stock with perhaps a trim of the air dam (or removal). I'm assuming no rub on road.
  2. Flat Fenders. I want to keep the stock suspension/drivetrain geometry for now. I love the look of flats. I'd like to have "no rub" when disconnected off-road. I think the flats with my tire/wheel selection accomplishes this?
  3. Stock front bumper end cap mod. I don't care for the look of flats with a full width bumper. I'd like to buy an aftermarket stubby but since I'm not lifting (yet) I don't want the weight. I think this will make it look good with the flats and will not cause the stock JKUR to sag.
I think if I did those three things for now...I'd have excellent on road handling, no rub under articulation off road and of course a jeep that looks cool. Do you think a stock height jkur with 33's and flat fenders would look weird? I haven't been able to find a pic of that set up.
