jkmohican This is horrible, sorry to hear this. I've never witnessed or had something like this happen to me in the 1.5 years that I've had my jeep but I will comment on what some people are saying. For any offense that causes any sort of damage to your property, I think that it's reasonable to say that you can take defensive action but using weapons that can cause death in response to a non-life threatening action is absurd. There's plenty of stupid people, and they are willing to do plenty of stupid stuff, and you should take the actions needed to stop them and teach them a lesson, but using a deadly weapon to do so is going to get you in trouble. Even when you use a weapon legally against someone, your still in for a world of hurt. In a situation like this, I think the logical thing to do would be to grab them on the spot, give a couple jabs, make clear that they made a big mistake and give them a reason to never do it again, no weapons needed. If your incapable of doing something like this, that's what the police are for. Ive seen too many good guys get everything they own taken away from them because they used a weapon in self defense. They followed the rules and did everything legally, they had all the rights on their side, but that means nothing when they go through civil court. Stay on the safe side.

After a long day's work, I've gone to the parking lot only to find someone's fresh gum plastered onto my front emblem. This happened on several different occasions. And only after a few days of owning it, someone took a key to the trunk - MULTIPLE times.

And then a few years ago, I was sitting in my other vehicle outside my apt garage when I witnessed my neighbor urinating on the windshield of my other neighbor's brand new Liberty. Needless to say I reported it and no longer live in that community.
This is absolutely terrible, the way people are treating jeeps... Good on you for doing the right thing

I agree! I was just simply saying that if you are going to be shooting then do so to neutralize them. Not just to make them suffer!

Most people just need a whooping!!

JeepCourtney3700 Sheesh, some people just can't leave well alone. Most people, grown men, grown women, children and teenagers have no manners and no respect for other people's property.

Especially on the retail level. Too many people dig into stuff that they have no business of purchasing, let alone opening. Anything that can be opened - it doesn't matter if it's a shirt, carrying case, radio, etc. - they feel entitled to open it.

It's not their right.

I don't care if it costs $5 or $50,000. Any property that does not belong to you, if you don't plan on buying it and are not authorized to touch it, don't touch it. It's THAT simple.

I'd never go to a store and unravel merchandise whether or not I intended to buy it and I certainly would never touch someone else's vehicle that I don't have the authority to do so.

I can understand non malicious accidents but some of the stories in this thread indicate willful spite and malice. I live in Texas, a man has a right to defend his property with deadly force from unauthorized intruders and the same courtesy is extended to his vehicle.

Dj Captain Back In 2007, I had our first jeep(a 2003 rubicon) parked in the garage. According to the fire marshal/inspector, someone walked by and threw something on fire into the back of the jeep. The fire took the whole Jeep, the garage, the bedroom above the garage, smoke damaged everything in the house, and left us living in a hotel for 10+ weeks. I have more pics somewhere, but this is what I could find quick....

Legomyjeep Wow, Im so sorry some idiot thought that was a good idea. If I can give u a bright side, at least its cleanable. My baby got vandalized and it was a straight up assault. Stabbed two rear tires, fifth tire, driver door, took the knife and drove it all down her side. I'm almost grateful the top was down, I'm sure they woulda sliced that too. (Surprising...I was in pcb and had not pissed anyone off). There are some disrespectful a-holes out there. I hope u were able to get the milky smell out that could leave behind.
06-28-2013 08:08 AM
3beej I do the backing in thing, too. My Jeep is not a trash receptacle. I just wish, like 'PecosRiver' said, more people would get involved. When I see disrespectful behavior, I definitely say something. I usually get a rude, impolite response but I don't care, I'm gonna keep doing it. And if I saw what happened with the ice cream, I would have called 911. That is an emergency.

I hate kids sometimes, too.

NFRs2000NYC Inside the Jeep? My money is on someone who can drive and is jealous. Sorry brother, hope you got it cleaned up. Deadly force should be legal against vandalism.

Ajax333333 I remember in 92' with my brand new jeep (about a month old) I was turning left out of a bar and as I did some punk threw a firecracker in my jeep. Top was down and it landed on the back seat. A smoke bomb!!! Burned a hole in my seat. By the time I got turned around he was gone. I was soooo pissed.

Sorry to hear about your jeep!!
06-27-2013 11:48 PM
it_felt_so_good I'm sorry man. i probably would have gotten the police called on me if I knew who did it. This is why I have dash cams on the front & rear windshields... Won't stop someone from dumping crap in my Jeep but I'll hopefully be able to pick up a face & then can post their face all over the neighborhood.

It was most likely a random act! I just bought the Jeep and only close family knows I have it! Most of my friend live out if town anyway!

Up to you on whether you follow through with a small claims court request or anything, but I bet that little booger will pucker up a bit when (s)he sees that reward sign and knows that they had some friends around that they were showing off to when they did it - will they rat or not?

Miser That su-ks! You work hard all of your life to have something nice and then this happens. In my view, vandalism is worse than stealing, because it serves no purpose.

Reference to Old Doggers comment: For discipline the belt is good, but the old Razor Strap that I used to receive, was much more memorable! Sometimes, I couldn't set down for a couple of days. Yes, it really hurt, but I did get the message!
I also have seen some of my family and friends use time outs and they really are just a waste of time. Whom ever thought that one up, must of had a few screws loose!
06-27-2013 05:12 PM
PecosRiver Back when I used to go to movies, I was walking with my girl to my car when someone heaved a shake onto another parked car just about the time I passed him. Without even thinking I labelled that dumb person with the perfect left. He went down hard and his friends started circling. I asked them how they would like that done to their cars? Think about it, I told them, if this was your car how would you feel? They looked kinda confused but picked up their buddy and left. I'm sure they thought it was my car and decided not to press the issue.

My girl was less than supportive about my actions and we broke up a few weeks later. I hate seeing this stuff happen and these days no one does anything. We've become a nation of voyeurs who do nothing but watch.

Got a pic by chance to reinforce the fact that people (adults/kids) are idiots?
