big_slacker Impressions so far:

Seems to have retained the wrangler character but with better road manners. I LOVE bouncing down the road.

I can't believe they sell them with 3.21s. Sorry if that offends anyone, I test drove one and wondered where that 285 HP was, it seemed as slow as my TJ. 3.73s are great and no I don't give a shit about MPG or freeway revs. It's a 6 speed, seemed fine on the hour freeway drive back from the dealer to me.

Shifting..... is like a truck. The last stick I drove was a porsche cayman S which had a gearbox that was just a LITTLE bit more accurate.

WTF hill assist? That made me stall it on a hill, lol!

Holy turning radius! Quite a bit better than our VW tiguan family hauler.

Wifey likes it. She drove it and said it felt like a toy, not a car. She needs to get used to a stick again though. She is from europe an knows how to shift fo sho, just needs a refresher as do I. She says she likes it a lot better than the TJ, which in her words was "Driving a tractor".

Don't all the 13's have Lift Assist?

Wheels/tires are horrible, so forgive those. 33's and a lift coming soon.

Welcome back actually, I had a TJ and have regretted selling it ever since.

JeepHerz Congrats!

big_slacker Thanks gents. I just drove home in my '13 silver sport.

Soft top, 6 speed, only options are AC and 3.73's. 22.9k

As mentioned I got a lower interest rate, payment was gonna be almost the same.
06-27-2013 12:28 PM
JeepHerz Though I love my 2012 2 door and I think that's a decent price- I agree try for new. Exactly as someone mentioned you'll get a better interest rate on a new Jeep. Even if you spend a little more your payment may be the same. Or use that as a tactic to get a better price on the 2012- if you can get another thousand or two knocked off it might be worth it.

kik I would seriously consider a new one. You'll get a better deal soon on a 13 as a result of the 14's being available.
06-27-2013 11:40 AM
st1264 Here in Canada, there are huge rebates on 13's, so there is even less motivation to buy used. Wranglers hold their value very well, you can buy new for a little more, with a better interest rate... Good luck, OP.

insylem Welcome to the Jeep world. I went with new as well. Simlar reasons too.

fessmiq Yup, I am a one week owner and everyone here convinced me to buy new. Went with a 13 sport auto and ac and plan on making the mods myself. Walked out the door at 24,1 from Steve White Motors (he'll ship to you btw). I was considering a 2011 for 21,5 but with taxes, tags, etc I would have been close to 23. It was a no brainer and I absolutely love my new jeep!

st1264 Buy new and don't look back.

Welding Rod I drove my new 2013 JKU up in the forrest all day today. Lots of fast logging road with potholes, washboarded grades. I was shocked to find the car was completely silent. Hopefully it will stay that way.
06-26-2013 11:23 PM
coelement777 plus you would have it under warranty for a year longer
06-26-2013 11:14 PM
big_slacker Yeah, I just found a couple of '13s with AC and 3.73s for 23k. I think you're right in that the diff and some wheels/tires on the used one probably aren't worth it.
06-26-2013 09:36 PM
coelement777 i just paid 23,400 for a 2013 with a/c and 3.73s . I would not buy a used one for that small of a difference, also if your financing the interest rate on the used one will be higher.
06-26-2013 07:19 PM
ohioviper Yep and the 2012 have some head problems. 2013 have proven to be ok so far.
06-26-2013 07:14 PM
dawhitesJKU its probably regional then. i sent u a link on ur profile page for comparison purposes. all the others in my area were very high until i found that dealer. made my purchase the same day i found it.
06-26-2013 07:00 PM
big_slacker Interesting. I've been watching the dealerships in my area and no '13 lower than 24k. This may be a regional thing, I'm in Bellevue wa fwiw
06-26-2013 06:18 PM
dawhitesJKU because the dealer i purchased my jku from sells brand new 2013 jk base models for almost the same price as the one you listed.

i just checked and its $21488 for a 2013 AUTO at my dealer.

Jeep purchase question

I've done a lot of research and think I've found a JK I like.

Any reason why I wouldn't buy a '12 sport 2 door base base model with wheels/tires and 6k miles for 21k? Sounds like a decent deal. Any gotchas?
