Thanks for all the info! and the pictures helping explain it. Awesome! I have a two door. Decided my mom mobile days were dang near over and I love the two door and no offense to any four door owners here but the ones I run into here are yuppie couldn't swing the hummer, don't even wave folks.
So much to ponder. I am hesitant because I know once I start I'll get caught up as I've already found a bad ass bumper I love and some wicked wheels I wouldn't mind switching to. Hubby showed me the cool air intake hood which is cool too. There I'd go getting caught up in it and emptying my pockets of money I either don't have or shouldn't spend.
I appreciate all the input. If I were to do this, I'd want to do it right. Neighbor has an older rubi, lifted only for looks so it drives down the road like crap. My kid has an older jeep, lifted so high that I dang near need a ladder and his drives and handles as well as mine but I know what he put into it. (a nice downpayment on a house so he could move out on his own! )
Prior to getting my jeep I was after a 3/4 ton diesel truck. That is what I wanted but kid bought a jeep and I loved it and got hooked and we rationalized getting the jeep since we already have a big one ton dually that I can haul horses with and since that isn't often these days, we opted for a more compact drive. (truck is over 19' long, a real bitch to run errands with) I can also drive this all over our trails.
I am torn, love a big bad ass drive and part of me wants to make him over into that, the other part wants to keep him stock-looking down the road from now. When I see older fully stock jeeps that are mint looking I give full appreciation to them.
The input with the pictures are a great reference! Thanks! I have some time to ponder. I am really torn between the mods and stock, it will be interesting to see which I actually tear. LOL!

do you have a 2 door or 4? if you have a 2 door and dont want to go crazy get a 2.5" coil spacer lift, you can run 35's with that. i have a 2" and run 35's but i cut my front fenders, and i do get a little rubbing at full stuff. you will need wheel spacers if your keeping your stock rims. if you go with a larger lift ( 4") and have a 2 door you will nedd new drive shafts.

|CruserBruiser||you would be better off gettin a 3.5" or 4" suspension lift so you can fit the 35s in there, as for the 35" spare i dont see how it could fit with the stock bumper but i have seen alot of pics on the net with a larger tire on the stock rack. heres a pic of mine with stock wheels and tires and one with the 35s, the lift is a 4" pro comp stage I suspension lift, you dont need any special equipment with this lift and it drives excellent.|

Unfortunately 2" might be a bit tight for 35's unless your going to either chop the flares or go aftermarket. A 1" BL with a 2" BB would work.
Check out the TeraFlex BB. There are several to choose from so I would look up the site and just give em a call. 35's are going to be a tight fit with less than 2.5"s of lift. Properly backspaced wheels or spacers will be a must as well with the bigger meats.

That said, here's my cheap solution.
Unlimited Rubi springs and shocks with TeraFlex 2.5" BB. ProComp Extreme AT's @ 285/75R16 on stock steel. Total parts required were TeraFlex spring spacers, skyjacker rear swaybar links, (flipped rear links to front) TeraFlex heavy duty rear trackbar bracket, Full Traction front trackbar bracket (came with POS "econo" lift that I have since replaced) and TeraFlex shock extensions. No wheel spacers but the front tires do rub slightly on the spring perches so I don't dare disconnect till I get some offset wheels or spacers (which I'm not a fan of)
Oh and I wouldn't try to tote a 35 on the stock carrier. Especially a heavy one. the 285/75's fit like a glove.

I am not a mechanic. I know there are some threads on this but I want to ask a specific question....
I have an 08 rubi. Would like to leave it somewhat stock. After seeing my kid do all his monster mods, I do know that one mod has to lead to another and if you do that you then have to do this.
I do not want to get into that trap.
I was told there is a 2" spacer kit that could be put on instead of going with a full lift kit.
Can this be done? Figured when I was ready for some new tires I would like to jack my boy up slightly and switch to 35's.
And if I can do it, will it give it a more unstable feeling etc. Will it change my overall down the road driving?
Will I have to get other stuff? Will the new spare fit on the factory bumper/tire holder?
If I have to start making more changes than just the two, I will stay factory all the way but if this is an easy mod without complications I'd love to be alittle higher of the ground.
