Michel347 I got an hard top for winter recently, never tried it yet, I love my soft top, and it will stay until they forecast snow.

Usually takes me 5 minutes to put it down and in between 5 and 10 to put it back up alone. Don't know what I was doing wrong yesterday, but it took me a good 15 to 20 minutes to put it back up.

Billybaldin I like mine. I have no problems with it. It's all in how you fold it. Do it correctly and it's a breeze. I like it so much Im selling my hard top..

krawdaddy I have the dual tops and I must admit, I'm very happy with the new "premium" soft top. It is way better than the one on my TJ. It's a PITA to put up, but is very quiet and doesn't flap like my old one did.

HappyJKU Always loved the soft top! The JKs are much better that the tops of old.

Fully agree, but I confess, I have yet to master the 2 minute up/down drill.

For sure, the way it has been raining in IL, taking the hardtop on and off is a pain when doing it all the time. A soft is more versatile for "might rain" days.

WiredFive Liking mine so far. Not liking how easily it scratches. Look at it the wrong way and it's scratched.

CLEJK The hardtop is great here in Cleveland during the winter but terribly annoying in summer. The weather changes constantly and like others have said, once its off its off. I'm picking up a soft top to use for summers so I'm able to put it up and down without having to leave it behind like the hard top. But in the winter I will put the hard top back on. If I lived further south I'd sell the hardtop but I still have a need for it here for at least a few months out of the year.

for me it wasnt getting it down, it was getting it back up. It took me a minute to get the clips above the doors on both sides to line up and lock in.

Welding Rod I have owned 2 soft tops and now have my first hard top on my new JKU.

I would prefer a soft top if I were living in the southwest again, where there is little mud and almost no trees. I like to go topless when I can.

But Up here in the Coastal PacNW just about every 2 track will have tree branches and sapplings dragging across the windows continually. This is particularly bad if there is already mud on the window. The plastic windows get ruined very fast.

Up here I have found the hard top is growing on me quickly.

LoveJiuJitsu My wife's has a hard top. Mine is a soft top. I prefer mine 100000000x over hers.

traitor08 I cN take the top down and doors off in about 5 minutes.

The sun is intense here and uncomfortable, even in winter.
I'm in CA and it's NOWHERE as hot as in Arizona. However, I would still never do the soft top without the spiderwebshade. I had enough sun exposure going to the beach in my teens. Plus skin cancer runs in my family.

damndirtydog Love the soft top, hate the windows. They get scratched just looking at them.
Gotta be a better material out there for windows.

RKracing Am I happy with a soft top........
Do I like sex.......
Does a bear chit in the woods.......
Does the water ripple when a duck farts.........
Are you kidding me?

andymac40330 I love having the soft top so far. Its nice to be able to go topless anywhere you want and have the relief that if weather gets bad you can throw it back up in 5 minutes.

JKPaul My hard top is off, soft top is on and will stay on. I run the soft top year round, no problem, love it. Up and down is only a 1 person job 5 - 10 mins tops.
If the wind in your face or sun on your head bothers you you are wasting most of the joy of having a Jeep! You may want to consider other options. IMHO.

wassup8687 I bought my Jeep with a Soft Top and bought a Hard Top a couple months later. I ran the hard top last summer taking the freedom panes out often. I put the soft top on about a month ago and have been folding it down when nice. The soft top is so much nicer in the summer. I'll put the hard top back on for the winter though.

That's funny. I was about ready to pull the trigger on a Camaro 2SS convertible. Test drove the jeep on a whim...and the rest is history.

steve2010 What's a hard top? I also keep a small ratchet with a T50 and a 14mm socket in my under-seat security drawer and can have the roof and doors off, mirrors replaced in less than 10 minutes. Leave the windows at home, and there is storage galore. Warranty is over soon, and it's almost MOD time, but the roof issue was settled at the dealership.

mhilbush I can't stand mine. The thought of the sun shining on me and the wind blowing in my face is a real turn off. Heck, even when I have the hard top on, I never remove the freedom panels.

getahemi I bought my 13 JK without a hard top since I have nowhere to store it. I ran my 03 tj with a soft top also and I have to say the newest soft top design is a big improvement over that. I'm glad I didn't pay for a hard top that I would never use. Btw I got the upgraded premium sunrider.

jwilson2598 Yep, I love the soft top. My last 3 Wranglers have been dual top Jeeps, because I like each top for its appropriate season. Plus they're different enough that it's like having a different Jeep every few months when you swap them.
06-29-2013 02:36 AM
pepatrick I have a 2013 JKU with the Premium top. It is easy to put it up and down with one person. Weekends it comes off and usually so do the doors. I purposely bought the soft top. I thought at one time I wanted the hard top too, but now that I have owned the Jeep for 6 months, I am very happy with the soft top.
06-29-2013 02:18 AM
Braveheart12JK Do it! I bought a dual top '12 JK and once I switched to the soft top, I never switched back!...and I live in New England. It's still fine. The new soft tops are awesome!
