has anyone with stock wheels chopped their stock jk bumper?

I don't like the stock front bumper on my jk but don't have a new bumper in my budget. I'm thinking about chopping the ends off and using one of those bumper cap kits to make the stock one into a stubby. I am currently running the stock 31 tires and am worried it might look goofy. The only pics I can find of chopped bumpers have fat tires. If anyone with stock tires has done this can you post a picture, or at least your opinion? Thanks for the help.
