rjdriver I know the instructions said that it was a pinch fit but in my kit there was a small metal dowel pin that was about 3/8 on an inch long and there was a notch on the tone ring and a hole in the shaft and the two fit perfectly together I haven't had any problems with mine other than the speedo was off due to my 33's but the blue monkey speedohealer took care of that..... it seems like a nice unit I got mine through Novak and thought it was something that they made and didn't realize that it was a Tereflex until after I got it ...... Oh well its on now....hopefully to stay.

Boobooo I didn't see that metal dowel pin as part of my install - however the most parts came assembled on mine when it arrived. The tone ring gets pressed in with the outer shell when installed... at least so far my speedometer appears to be functioning fine.

Here's the youtube instructions I followed...
TeraFlex Install: 231 Extreme Short Shaft Kit(4444400} Plus 2WD Low Range Kit(2204000) - YouTube
although I did do the install with the transfer case still attached to the jeep...

rjdriver They also don't say anything about the short metal dowel pin that has to go in the hole in the shaft that drives the tone ring ...... be careful when you open the bag of parts because you can lose that little sucker.

Boobooo So the PO had an standard relocation bracket installed for the stock rear trackbar. It's was designed for a no CV style driveshaft... So for the JKS angled relocation bracket, I had to drop the gas tank to get to the T52bolt (T50?) holding the trackbar in... Well, once the tank was dropped, amazing how much room you have under your jeep to work...

Tereflex ESS, tom woods driveshaft, JKS trackbar, full set of rokmen skids including the high clearance skid and even a new transmission mount (why the heck not since I was already taking everything apart.) Done.
Vibration at idle, but I think that's partly the Brown Dog motor mounts and new changes settling...

OK - back to topic - I may be slow, but I eventually figured out why the transfer case took less ATF+4... It's not the angle of the dangle, it's the fact that the capacity had changed significantly because the housing was changed out... Much smaller compared to stock.
(yeah, somewhere during the night I had the "Ahaaaa" moment)

NZ-Freebird Great thanks for the heads-up, I ordered an Advance Adapter SYE from 4x4 group buy but got a Teraflex setup which will be fitted in the next few weeks.

Boobooo Side note: Also installed a high clearance belly pan (as well as reset pinion angle with the UCA's)...
When filling up the transfer case with ATF+4, instead of the 2.2pts that the service manuals say, it was actually about 1.9pts - probably because of the change in the angle of the transfer case..
I'm assuming that's not an issue...

Now just to get the adjustable trackbar and relocation bracket installed and I'll be done...

Tereflex Extreme Short Shaft Kit - Install Warning...

Just finished up installing the tereflex extreme short shaft kit and Tom Woods CV driveshaft. Great products... but instructions for the install had one big flaw which I thought I'd share for anyone attempting this install.

The 4 bolts should be installed into the new Yoke before the Yoke is attached to the shaft. Otherwise there is no room to install the bolts after the fact... And if you used Red thread locker as the instructions indicate, then you'll have a difficult time recovering from this obvious instruction miss.

Picture of the bolts I'm talking about shown below with arrows pointing to the bolts...

Install them before putting the yoke on.
