raythom3 Looks like it was a good weekend for a trip to cool off in San Diego. Happy 4th, enjoy your weekend!

RepairMan Well... pending any other inputs I guess the 5th is off. I'm off work till Monday if any comes up with a cool ride.

Xodius As it stands right now I think I will be out of any runs. This heat has kicked my butt and I think I have some heat exhaustion going on. So I am going to just stay home and drink a ton of water and relax. I should be fine by Friday but hate to push it too much.

gregaf3 Might want to rethink doing Carpenters Canyon... unless you want to see the fire damage

Xodius Unless we did...wow the name totally escapes me now. Sean you me and Gordon did the trail. Up by gas peak...I am totally drawing a blank...corn creek?

Only downside is there isn't much at high elevations so it wouldn't be as cool.
There is angel peak but might be too hot for that one.

There is the trail up by Mack's canyon that goes to a mine. Not sure how close it goes though.

Maybe hit that and a few smaller trails around that area? Not sure how busy it will be up there but I am guess busy.

Xodius I may take that time to insulate my pantry. Darn thing gets very warm if we have door closed and once our son arrives I doubt I will have time or most likely energy to rip out the wall and redo it. Lol. Although as I type that I would much rather get a root canal. Lol.

RepairMan Well I'm off for 4 days and I need to get outta the house.
07-02-2013 10:43 PM
jokerchief462 Yeah I will probably just stay home and do some work on the YJ. Found an 8.8 rear pick up on the 4th so I will have something to keep me busy.

Xodius I am amazed that call trout canyon a town.

As for the run...blah!

I was in the sun too much today to have a solid thought, lol. I will think about it tomorrow. If anyone has any ideas toss them out.

RepairMan Crap...Well I hope the firefighters stay safe and they can save the town that they mention.

jokerchief462 LAS VEGAS -- Firefighters with the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forestry Service are working to put out a growing fire burning in the Carpenter Canyon area of Mt. Charleston, which is on the Pahrump side of the mountain.
According to the BLM, the fire started Monday, when lightning hit a tree. The fire has now spread to between 800 and 1,000 acres. It is being fueled by pinyon juniper trees.
Four engines, a single-engine air tanker dropping fire retardant and a helicopter dropping water is being used to fight the fire. The Forest Service's most advanced ground crew is fighting the fire. More resources are expected Wednesday.
BLM spokeswoman Hilarie Patton said Trout Canyon Road is expected to close. The town of Trout Canyon is about two miles away from the fire, she said. No structures are threatened at this time.
The fire is not contained at all, she said.

jokerchief462 Bummer, may go into Potatoe ridge and check out a front locker with a friend early and come back out the same way. Going to be hot day so out early and in early.

l2abbit I'm interested ? But what run are we doing again? Lol
06-29-2013 09:15 PM
RepairMan As long as we all agree, sure. But I think that CFR Marine is from the South East. And I think 830 for a target would be better, leave at 9.
06-28-2013 11:56 PM
Xodius Yes that is what I was thinking. The distance is about the same and with most of us up in NW.

What are your thoughts?

Are u thinking of taking the Northern route to Pahrump?

jokerchief462 We can do Wheeler Pass Backwards at the end of doing Carpenter Canyon or something.
06-27-2013 02:29 PM
jokerchief462 I may be in. Found this on the DW page from April

Carpenter Canyon, a beautiful area on the back side of Mt. Charleston off state Route 160, as you journey into Pahrump, NV. After traveling through a large Joshua Forest, we will climb to an elevation of over 4,000 above sea level, crossing running streams and a beautiful pine forest with wonderful views. There are trout in the streams, so if you have your fishing license and a fishing pole you just might get a chance at catching a few. This will not be an all day journey, but make sure you bring plenty of water and your lunch. Be prepared for any type of weather as I'm not sure what to exspect. Also bring your camera's as it's spring, and the wild flowers should be in full bloom. Remember, this a family friendly club, so bring the kids and animals along for the ride. For those of you that like to camp and hike, this is a great opportunity to get a feel of the area for future return trips after this trip is over.

Read some stuff on line seems like a good trip 5 Jul high is 103 on the 10 day forecast.

Let me know when and where.

raythom3 Looks like I'm in on the 5th. Just received an email corporate wide stating the Friday is a forced Vacation Day. I will have my 40 hours in by end of day next Wednesday and I will still be forced to take a vacation day. Nice corporate policies for the salaried staff.
06-26-2013 10:27 PM
RepairMan Ok, I'm good for that
