AmericanGI You fixed it! Thanks so much for your diligence. This is just another reason WF is the best forum on the web.

HelenaAG Try it now, I just noticed a discrepancy in your subscriptions so it should work now.

AmericanGI I was so hoping this would work, but sadly it did not. Followed your directions and still see the ads at the top of every thread. Using default skin (Wrangler Forum v1.0_Dec2013).

BTW, I also cleared the cache after logging out, just for good measure.

HelenaAG Hey guys, so the template change was previously implemented. Can you all try resetting your settings? Turn the option off, log out, log back in and turn it back on and let me know if you're still getting it. Also please if you're still seeing it, confirm which skin you're using
Cheers

HelenaAG i'll let the tech team know and they will look into this ad issue.

Sorry for the inconvenience everyone!

AmericanGI My edit options are setup correctly. This was the first thing I checked when the ads started showing up at the top of each thread. I am at a loss here, but I do appreciate the admin's diligence.

Another day and still ads. Makes me wish I did not signup for the 5-year option. Everything was great when I was a mere 1-year subscriber.

Looking forward to getting this fixed.

JDsDream KM, that is what I went in looking for. The option had been selected. We had a member just a few days ago with this same issue. It was a template setting that corrected it. See post 36 of this thread.

HelenaAG Hello,

for the subscribers who is seeing the ads, could you please follow these instructions and see if it works?

-Go into your user CP
-Select 'Edit Options'
-Scroll all the way to the bottom until you see 'Show Less Ads'
-Make sure the box beside 'Remove the Sponsor Ads at the top of the Forums/Discussions' has not been checked.
-Clear your browser cache/cookies if you still see the ads after following the steps.

Please let us know if this did not work.

Thank you!

AmericanGI JDsDream, thanks for trying, but I still get ads at the top of each thread. It seems something is amiss with the 5-year subscription option.
12-17-2014 09:38 PM
JDsDream I made a few changes. Let me know if that helped.
12-17-2014 05:52 PM
AmericanGI HelenaAG, this is the same issue you and I are conversing about via PM. When I renewed my subscription to a 5-year versus 1-year, the ads starting showing up at the top of every thread. This NEVER happened before.

Also, the "Remove the Sponsor Ads at the top of the Forums/Discussions" is checked. And the ads show up regardless of what version of the forum I use (v1.0, beta, or v1.0_Dec2013). I have used v1.0_Dec2013 since I registered for WF with ZERO issues. As I stated, this only started when I renewed my subscription with the 5-year option.

I really appreciate the assistance. It is a little difficult to maintain quick replies as I am in Germany, which is several hours ahead of you. I will check in my AM and perform any tasks or change settings, then reply with the results.

HelenaAG Sorry for the sake of getting all the details can you post screens of the ad in plain v1.0 and the lack of ad in beta. It should be the same all around so I'm wondering if a new ad came up that futzed the layout possibly.

Thanks for your help and your patience.

Wrong Way Hal Yes, using V1.0 Dec 2013. The only other choices I have are V1.0 and beta. I tried beta and the ad went away. The plain v1.0 and v1.0 Dec both have the ad.

But switching to "beta" does not explain why the ads started showing up. I've been using Dec 2013 for most of this year without the ads.

I think I just figured it out, are you using the dec 2013 version of the layout? Down at the bottom to check. I'm wondering if that's what's causing you to see the ad.

JDsDream I just made a small adjustment. See if that has made a difference.

4Jeepn i will ask if the techs can check on the 5 yr thing.. could be the issue, bad code perhaps?...
12-10-2014 09:27 PM
Wrong Way Hal Is there different server configuration files for 1 year supporting members and 5 year supporting members? Just wondering. I'm sure I didn't have this issue prior to yesterday when I was still a 1 year member.
12-10-2014 08:38 PM
Wrong Way Hal I checked it several times today and here is what I have. Plus, I have deleted ALL cookies, not just the WF ones and have shut down the computer and restarted. I still see the ad.

I'm at a loss....

Thanks.

I would like to suggest that you change or remove the "Upgrade To Remove These Ads" link. By having this link right next to an ad suggests that the ad being displayed will be removed if you become a supporting/upgraded member.

Attachment 1714082

Thank you.

BTW, I know that ads were not displayed where I have indicated prior to yesterday. For the past year and more, I have viewed the JK and CA forums 2-5 times a day. After checking out the new postings, I ALWAYS click on "Forum Tools" and mark all messages as being read. For at least the last year, the "Forum Tools" button was immediately above the "Last Post" and "Replies" buttons.
again, the space for that add has been theres for years and years.. I just went into my user cp/ edit options.. and checked the box. and it does remove thatexact ad. Perhaps go in and double check to make sure your box is still checked. i will look on my end at your settings as well.

I'm using Firefox 34.0.5. I am almost POSITIVE that the ad started showing up yesterday (12-09-2014), but I don't remember if it started after I renewed my supporting membership or before.

I am referring to the Rebel ad in this case. I know that prior to 12/9, there was no space/line between the line that has Forum Tools / Search this Forum and the Thread / Thread Starter line.

Thanks for your assistance.

Hal
Has been there for a few years... at least on my view...

not sure you did this yet.. but go into USER CP.. edit options.. then to bottom and check the remove ad box.. might help a bit..

Is there an answer/fix for this? I just noticed this type of ad placement today. I don't remember if it was before or after I renewed my support today.

Thanks.
