It will definitely be my next upgrade. I live in Ensenada and I worked and Sweated too many years as a Ironworker on the freeways you drive to work on. my 91 is a TOY and at 73 years young I will sweat no more.

StanF Missing parts...overpriced...

Air conditioner under dash AC unit for Jeep CJ-7 1976-1986, YJ Wrangler 1987-199

Charley24 I just want to cut the humidity a bit. Oklahoma in the summer is brutal, even with the top down. Thanks!

I've got an AC on my 2.5L. It was already on my Jeep when I bought it, and it works reasonably well. I run a bikini top, and mostly use the AC at stoplights - it definitely takes the edge off the temperature. There's a bit of a performance hit when running the AC, but my Jeep still moves.

I've poked around the unit enough, and looked at the install instructions before, and it looks pretty easy and straightforward to install yourself. I've seen used YJ AC units on Craigslist before, and that might be another (less expensive) option for you. But there's more risk there that something may not be right.

We're probably all used to new vehicles with vents up high and cold air blowing right into our face. That probably won't be your experience with the YJ AC... The vents on the YJ AC are very low, and the blower isn't very strong.

Ibuildembig All you really need is the factory add on underdash unit. You can buy everything else new from an auto parts store.

Huntsman180 Yeah it is. It will reduce power, but some days it's just too dang hot to not have it. You'll be happy you got it.

[QUOTE=Charley24;3867338]Worth the $900.00 for the kit I would need?[/QUOT

I think it's worth it. It will be the next upgrade on my 91Y.J. 4.0

Basically it's a necessity.

Charley24 That's what I figured. I'm in Oklahoma.... It's not the heat, it's the humidity!! Thanks for the reply.

It will draw to much HP and destroy the low gas mileage you already get. Just take the top down and cruise!

Vin I bought a yj new in 92. The dealer told me specifically if I wanted AC, to get the I6.

Adding A/C to a 2.5?

I have been thinking about adding A/C to my '93 2.5, but I'm afraid the a/c will use up all the power that the 2.5 makes. Any comments or advice is appreciated!
