bringing my thread alive...
just got a nice crack in my windshield so i bought a new windshield frame and windshield glass with new cowl seal as well. im going to replace everything soon.
i am probably going to bring the new frame/glass to a professional to put together. how hard it is to swap windshield frames? also what is a good primer and paint option?

|petercass88||sealing the inside might not be a good idea. You might start trapping water in the frame which will become a ticking rust time bomb.|

|rd-wrangler||Sealed around the outside of windshield where I have some rust issues thinking that is where the leak might be coming in but nooooo I'm still leaking in the same spots. I'm about to use rubber sealant on the inside where it is leaking.|

Yea, that looks like the windshield seal.
Your cowl seal is probably also bad, you just dont know it yet.

|kik||My YJ leaks in the same place. I just used black sealant. It also leaks from other areas but a slush mat catches it.|

|reno92||If it's a soft top, the water could be coming in from the top of the windshield bracket that the top slides into. The screws that hold the bracket to the frame need to be sealed (I sealed the whole bracket with sealant). The water then runs down the inside of the winshield frame and leaks out at the bottom.|

Looks like the gasket and not the cowl to me. Mine leaks in the same spot. I have some rot on the windshield frame so the gasket isn't making a seal there. Water gets in and makes the rot worse and leaks down my dash and speakers.
A problem that gets worse everyday. Quadratech sells all of the stuff needed to fix, but as Scott - CJ8 said, try the black sealant first.

|rd-wrangler||now it is leaking in the same spot on the drivers side...|

|Scott-CJ8||If it's just the windshield gasket and you can find where it's coming in, a simple fix is black silicone sealant. If the gasket is bad (dry rotted or split) you may have to replace it, which means popping out the windshield. But I'd try some silicone first ... if done right, won't even be noticeable.|

|rd-wrangler||i am guessing from the bottom|

|Redrider94||The cowl seal is under the bottom of the windshield frame, what you are showing is the windshield gasket. Is the water coming in on the top of the gasket or under the gasket?|

|rd-wrangler||Nope nowhere else from there. i have leaks coming from both doors, making puddles on my floor pans. could that be related to this leak?|

|crabman141||I would think so. Is it leaking anywhere else ?|

This means my cowl seal is bad?
Starts leaking through here during raining or splashes from running through puddles.
