RockLobster 13

Hi All: my wife (past multiple Jeep owner) and I (farmboy gearhead) recently picked up our first Wrangler. Wanting a bright color, and under the unofficial rule that trucks and tractors should be some kind of red, we ordered a new Rock Lobster Unlimited Rubicon 6-speed in mid-April. We drove it home in mid-May.

We'll be keeping the modifications to a minimum as the Rubicon package provides much of what we'd want anyway, and this is our DD family car. We did "stubby" the front bumper and add .75" leveling spacers to the front spring pockets to eliminate rake. From the front, you can now see all of those wonderful 32" Mud Terrains.

So far, the doors and top have been off as much as they've been on and we're both very happy with our first "real" Jeep. The dealership did have to replace a power lock regulator that was bad from day 1 (causing intermittent locking/unlocking) although we took our time getting around to it as, again, the doors have been so frequently left at home. Spot mirrors on the vents (got the idea from this and other forums) have been OK as substitutes for real side mirrors, but a $12.99 motorcycle mirror in the door hinge has been even better. I might even buy one for the passenger side!

We're looking forward to learning and sharing with members of the forum as we enjoy all the aspects of these awesome vehicles.

To the forum members we met this last weekend at Rocky Neck: we enjoyed the cookout and the hospitality and most of all the great people and cool Jeeps. Can't wait to do it again.
