|87 Florida YJ||If you are looking for great MPG the jeep is not the vehicle for you.. If you are looking for the funnest ride you ever had then the jeep is the only game in town. That being said just get the six. You will never look back at this decision. IMO of course|

|Rmadd||If you get the 4.0 L, you'll have no regrets. I've heard of people running them 300k+ no rebuild and no problems. The 4cyl will just leave you wanting more power. And don't be concerned with gas mileage, it's a jeep. The mileage is going to be crappy anyway so you may as well go for the best.|

|joe buell||Deff a 6cyl I have the 2012 3.6 and my brother has a 2001 4cyl which he loves and I know you can not compare the two as far as power but my 6 gets just as good as his 4cyl even friends that have the 4cyl I know complain about the lack of power and wish they had bought the 6cyl MPG is going to be lousy any way you look at it its a jeep it has the era dynamics of a washing machine on wheels .|

|fsumichaelg||Just threw on new plugs and wires to my 2.5 and notice gas milage soared at 176000 miles to around 19 mpg avg.....before seemed like 12mpg.|

|SurfKaster||Get a 6. The 4 has to work harder & gets about the same mileage. I've gotten 19.73 mpgs out of my 6 with 180k on her & average 17-18 regularly. Get a 6.|

4 cyl get around 16/19
6 cyl get around 14/17
I get about 12/15 with my tires and gears and 6 cyl.

|SuicideSaints||Get a 6cy and be done with it, jeeps are bricks on wheels and get horrible mpg. Get a 6 and you have power, regear to keep that power as the jeep gets a lift and mods.|

The answer is not quite that simple. It should be but it's not. I'm no jeep expert but my 2 cents is this;
If you do any interstate driving you are better off with 6cylinder. Stock equp the highway miles are about the same. City driving the 4 cylinder is better if left stock. If you want to upsize tires or lift then again go 6.
The 4 cylinder is great for toying around and as a daily driver if most of your driving is around town. It is also capable off road. But like I said if you drive hwy or want to lift it and run large tires don't bother with the 4.

4 cyl vs 6 cyl
Hi! I'm new to the Jeep world and I'm trying to get some research to together before choosing my first car.
I know I want the Wrangler but I'm still not sure on whether or not to get the 4 cylinder or the 6 cylinder, I'm not sure of the difference between the two. One of my main concerns has to do with which one is better on gas but I know that depends more on how much I drive it. I live in a more "hill-y" city, which I'm pretty sure is another contribution for choosing which to get.
Honestly, I'm not car smart in the slightest so any input could help, thank you (:
