Abnormal-JK St Helen, is about 12 miles north and west of West Branch, about an hour from Tawas. Most of the trails there are ORV so Jeeps are good to go. Likewise, of Bissonette in Oscoda, those too are ORV, but also with some snowmobile trails you have to stay off of.

Questions are always welcome...

Richard ETawas Mark, I would be glad to meet some weekend. Still a novice so you might get a lot of questions. Such as, Where is ST. Helen? I assume this time of year all these trails are either dogsled or snowmobile. richard

Abnormal-JK Hey Richard.... glad I kept my log in here... yea, I hang in Tawas almost every weekend, hit St Helen a lot, and the trails of Bissonette road in Oscoda from time to time... I don't stop by here often anymore, as I exchanged my JK for an XJ... but we still wheel a lot... maybe we could meet up one of these weekends... I live out on Baldwin Resort Road.

Richard ETawas That sounds typical for salmon in the river. Thanks, I will look for the website and FB page.

Watch over on the What Lies Beyond Jeep Club website or Facebook page in the late summer - we come up your way in the fall for our annual color tour/salmon watching trip. Watching because we can see 'em in the river, still have not landed one on that trip.

Nice meeting you too. I wanted to come along on Fri, but had some family make a surprise visit Thurs night and they stayed till Sat. Sounds like you had fun! I ended up taking my Dad out on the trails Sat afternoon, he really enjoyed it.

Next time I'm in town I'll give you a call and maybe we can get together.

I have not done the part up Small Road... plan to do that the next time I'm there, probably sometime this weekend.

A few of us are going to wheel in St Helen, Friday (I think) or Saturday. Another thread here http://www.wranglerforum.com/f86/fou...ly-252972.html

I'll be around if ya want someone to wheel with at some point...
Ok cool..Thanks! We have a dock off of Foote Pond in Oscoda and noticed there were some trails right down the road from me.

I am looking at the Old State House Trail and Route map for Iosco County and trying to figure out what road the ORV parking lot is off of. I see on the map it shows it being the next road after Merton Rd. Is the ORV parking lot off of Mack Road? Or will there be signs to follow?

Oscoda/Tawas 4th July- Huron National Forest

Anyone going to be in the Oscoda/Tawas area over the 4th? I am in Oscoda right across the road from the Huron National Forest off of Bissonette Rd.

Anyone ever wheel there? I'm going to be checking it out this weekend.
