Jerry Bransford Call Dallas Ashley who owns Stinky Fab in Escondido at 760-525-6886. Dallas is a well known builder/fabricator with a great reputation, he did much of the work on this year's King of the Hammers EMC winner co-driven by John Currie & Gerald Lee. He's a really good guy who can/will do a good job for you, please let him know I told you about him.

Johnepp I'm thinking about using the 8.8 since it has the same bolt pattern. Until I find a front axle.
07-08-2013 08:53 AM
WOKNROX What axle are you gonna use?
07-07-2013 11:18 PM
Johnepp Any one recommend a welding shop in San Diego that can weld the brackets on for my axle swap?
07-06-2013 10:24 PM
Johnepp I also picked up a ford 8.8
07-05-2013 09:39 PM
Johnepp Yeah I'm sure ill find a good one one of these days.
07-05-2013 02:45 PM
WOKNROX Right on...bud..
Keep looking.. you'll find one...
07-05-2013 02:21 PM
Johnepp I'm going to hit the yards up again tomorrow, most of them were closed yesterday for the 4th. The one one craigslist is a little more than I want to pay for one.

WOKNROX There's a HP Ford d44 complete on SD Craigslist in Ramona...
There's also a Detroit locker on there to....
If you pick up the Ford axle....it'll be 63" and 5 on 5.5 lug....so just run 1" or 1.5" spacers on the rear that'll change it from 6 lug to the 5 lug...and it'll give you the extra width...
Hope this helps

Johnepp Any recommendations on fab shops in San Diego?
07-04-2013 06:57 PM
Johnepp I looked for the waggy front but couldn't find any. Now I need to find a fab shop that can fix me up some mounting brackets.
07-04-2013 05:34 PM
WOKNROX Sweet....that's the one you want...
Those axles come with huge breaks...same size as the front Waggy/J20 d44 you'll want for the front....
07-04-2013 05:27 PM
Johnepp If I measured correctly its 60" it has 4:10 with LSD. I found it at ecology salvage in Chula Vista. They have 3 of them there. And it came with the whole brake system.

There you go....what's the width?
They come in 58" and 60"...
What gear is in it? does it have the LSD?

I can measure if you need me too. I believe it would be like your running spacer.

Sorry, I didn't get the notification via email.

I was looking to get $300 for the rear and maybe $250 for the front. I'm open to offers.

Johnepp I'm going to go check out the junk yards tomorrow and see what I can find.

I'll second this opinion just because its the exact same set up I'm running. Isuzu rear (LSD replaced by Detroit) and ford up front as described. Works good!

Johnepp Will it fit a TJ?

Jk4thedirt I have a D44 rear axle out if a JK. It's complete minus brakes. It even has a Riddler cover. I also have a empty D30 that has been sleeved and gussetted in all the right spots.

Johnepp Any other advice I gladly welcome also.

Johnepp Thanks a lot for the info. I'm new to jeeps so I'm trying to learn as much as possible. Everyone's says I need to get rid of my 35 because it'll break often. I just put a rubicon express 4.5 super flex lift on it with a teraflex sye kit. I want to get the most out of my TJ without having to worry about my stock axles.

If your wanting d44s...then I'd suggest the Isuzu Rodeo 44...for the rear...its a 30 spline axle that comes with 410,430&456 gears with a LSD has disc breaks and is at 60" wide...the same width as your d35....and if you want to step it up...get the HD 44 it'll have 33spline axles...look for a fined diff cover....its Chevy/ Toyota 6 lug...and can be had from any U pull junk yard for $150 or less
For the front...I'd get either an 81 and new wagoneer it'll be 61" wide with matching 6 lug...or a HP Ford...there's one on Cluster now for a few hundy without outers.....but this axle is 63" wide and 5lug.....so if you get Dodge flattop knuckles there is some on EBay now....and run Chevy spindles this will get you back to 61" wide and 6lug....

Any of these axles are far superior to the stock 44s found in a Tj...

This is just my $.02 based on my own experiences with the Dana 44s...
Hope this helps to give you some direction

Johnepp I'll give them a call. Thanks for the advice.

DaK Give some of the Mod Houses a call. If they don't have them, they will at some time or be able to point you in a direction that does.

Rebel Off Road, JPi are two good places to start.
