Called Q-tec again today to be told it wouldn't ship until the end of July and this is apparently something they found out "today." ORDER CANCELLED. Not playing that game EVER again.

The last time I had a problem with a backordered item popping up it was with 4WheelParts. I called up Quadratec and had them check their stock and pricematch the 4wheelparts quote, verified that the item I wanted was in stock, got the pricematch, then proceeded to place my order over the phone.
Even if an item is in stock, if there is only one item left in stock, you have to hope that your order gets picked before anyone else's order. For many companies, an item is considered in stock until it actually ships.
Quadratec could definitely improve it's customer service though by providing live inventory on it's website. At least an indication of relative inventory level. In stock vs. low stock.

I knew I should have ordered from Northridge! For some reason I thought I didn't see it on the website when I first looked.

So, if they don't stock it, why isn't there a note on their website that you will have to wait for the part? That wouldn't be hard to do, customers would totally understand that, and then customers could actually plan ahead for the needed part. Customer service.
Just. Notate. It. On. The. Site.
I am definitely taking my business elsewhere from here on out.

i would be willing to bet that if you called northridge, krawl, or any other synergy vendor - they'd be in the same boat. my point is they're not stocking those parts....
they take your order, then they get the product through synergy - i don't know anyone keeping synergy stuff on their shelves right now.
i had to wait for my ball joints, tie-rod, drag link, front track bar mount, and rear track bar mount... and those orders where all between northridge and q-tec. i think the only synergy part i never waited on was the steering stabilizer.

it's not quadratec... it's synergy. they only ship so many at a time. i went through the same thing when i bought my synergy tie-rod and drag link flip kit.
here's what i recommend to anyone - PM quadratec before you're going to make an order... then call quadratec with the order number that has been set up for you (by the reps on this forum).
i understand your frustrations waiting on parts... i'm an instant gratification guy myself, but this is really out of q-tec's hands. unless you call and speak with a live person - then right away, you'll know if something is on back order.
and as a guide - i have found that synergy stuff is typically back ordered. but its worth the wait...

|TexasJeepGirl||Q-tec tells me today that the shipment they are expecting from the vendor might not have "my" tie rod on it and that I couldn't have expedited shipping because it would take me out of the queue for the part. Then a minute later he said he could do it. We shall see. How many freaking tie rod orders were placed before they had them in stock?!|

Given the free shipping and price matching I would still consider shopping there. But if I was going to order I would call and talk to a human being who should be able to look up whether parts are in stock as you're ordering. If they can do that it might be worth the hassle of talking on the phone instead of going through the website.
But yeah, I agree that an update to their website to indicate whether a part is in stock or whatever would be great. Amazon and Summit Racing both tell you right on the top of the page for each item whether parts are in stock. Summit will even tell you an estimated delivery date in the item description. Q-tec should have a big enough IT staff that they can add that feature to their site within a couple of months. (I'm in IT and I know that it's not a childishly simple task but it's not rocket surgery either.)

|Flyfisher76||Had the same experience when i ordered my Garvin industries rack. I wouldn't know it was back-ordered until i checked with them myself. I do have to say that at least they don't charge you till it is shipped and they cancelled my order quickly but it was still a hassle. On a side note i found it cheaper elsewhere anyways so no big loss for me i guess.|

Q-tec frustrations (dealing with backorders)
So I recently ordered a Synergy tie rod because mine has been bent to the point that I can't run it anymore without consequence.
Unfortunately, I forgot about my last experience with Q-tec before I ordered (and one that many others are having).
Out of Stock. Backordered.
I get it. It happens. There is a huge demand for Jeep parts and it may be hard to keep things in stock. What frustrates me is that they do not tell you on the product page that something is out of stock. In fact, you don't find out until your order is placed and you go back a couple days later and see it on your order page. They are the only business I have ever dealt with that did this. I need the part soon for a trip, and now it looks like I will miss that.
I had to send them an email today because they have no customer service after 5pm EST. But you CAN place orders with them on the phone after that... OF COURSE. They'll take your money after 5pm but not address customer service.
This makes me really sad. Really, really sad. I don't think I am going to place any more Q-tec orders because I simply cannot gamble with things being in stock. This is the second time this has happened. I thought the first was just a fluke (took 20 days to ship).
I also don't have time to order from another company and pay for expedited shipping. Really sucks.
Please start telling us when something is backordered before we order!
