For 2 door models, max 2000 lb regardless of gearing.

|Xena1||Only thing a little tricky about the job is getting the washers and nuts aligned to thread onto the bolt because there is little room between frame and bumper. I use a stick magnet to hold both while catching the bolt threads.|

I also got a Rugged Ridge but find the fit rather poor, way over sized and will need to shim with plates or washers... Anyone else have any fit comment?
I should have ordered a Curtis. Bargin price will not end up being worth the extra trouble to get it just OK.

|hair2831||I have the Quadratec hitch and it is great. I've used it to tow trailers and as a recovery point. It works and is priced right.|

|Jeepguy888888||Hi Everyone. I just got the Rugged Ridge one Class 2 with wiring. Not yet installed however I will install shortly. I don't have the max tow package or anything like that I have a 2012 JK Sahara Unlimited. Is it still a 3500Lbs capacity? Also when it comes to 3500lbs. Is a Small Seadoo boat under that weight along with trailer.|

|SnowboarderOx||correct. No drilling.|

I assume no drilling is needed to mount the Quadratec hitch?

The Q-tec package with the hitch, wiring, and cover is currently $80. Free shipping for forum members and no tax in most states.
I installed mine in about 20 mins after work one day.
It's a really nice kit. One thing I did like about the Q-tec kit is that the wiring harness routes over the frame rail instead of under it. The clips on the harness snap in to existing holes holding it in place away from the muffler. I'm very happy with it.

|Metonymy||I jusr ordered the Quadratec hitch today. The factory hitch came off when the first aftermarket bumper went on, but now that I switched to an AEV, I need a hitch mount again. So I ordered that and the receiver mounted recovery point insert that holds a d-ring. Should be awesome.|

|Y-Guy||That sounds right RR - the Jeeps max towing capacity doesn't exceed 350/3500 no matter which current JK you have. I'm not sure about older Jeeps though.|

|big_slacker||FWIW if you're planning on hitch racks for bikes and such the hidden hitch one is a little more spendy but extends out a little more which will help clearing the spare.|

Same here - quadratec hitch with wiring harness for I think $90. And it came with a sweet rubber hitch cover that says jeep. Looks sweet and it's built solid. Took me 30 minutes for wiring and everything - Super simple and instructions are easy.
My neighbor paid some shop 450 to put a hitch on his. He was pissed when he found out what I paid.

|Rude Robert||what is the rating?? I might go this route actually|

|Billet13||Another reason to go Quadratec. No extraneous work to do ( like bumper removal).|

|the Grouch||Removing the plastic bumper (another four bolts) makes it easier to mount the hitch receiver. Specially if the nuts are not welded to the receiver.|

|MI JeepSkate||i bought the quadratec premium hitch with the harness and it took me 15 minutes. put the 4 bolts in the rear, take off the driver side tail light, pull the plug out, slip the new plug in and hook it all up, run it down the body to the frame and youre done. just dont do it while the jeeps hot, burnt the shit out of my hands on the exhaust because i was so excited to get it on|

|Billet13||It is a compact assembly that bolts through the rear cross member. I got mine, plus the wiring harness(plug and play) and a receiver cover from Quadratec for well under $100 and they have free shipping for forum members. All factory quality and it took me maybe an hour total to install. I've towed max weight with it and it works great.|

2012 jeep hitch install
I talked to the jeep dealer so i didnt have any pictures of it. I want to put a hitch on the jeep. He said there were 200$. I am looking at 4wheel catalog and i show one for 60$. I havent looked under the jeep but i thought that these mounted to the frame. I was assuming it had arms that when along the iframe on both sides? this is just a little square looking thing that has 4 or five bolts. looks like it would mount right in the middle some where in the current bumper
