4 cyl jeep

I have a 98 wrangler 4 cyl automatic , very rare from what i read but it has stock tires and i pull a 400 lb boat with it just use the tranny to start off on a hill or ramp , i have pulled thet boat verywhere with no problems , yaes a little sluggish at times but it still does what i want , oh ya it has 160,000 miles on it ! still running , noticing i am getting a little piston slap going on may just drop the oil pan and put new connecting rod bearings in at this point . Good luck

jamesdeanblvd I'm not sure on the weight for the boat. I've always wanted a Jeep Wrangler, but, just never pursued it. Once I sold the Harley, I figured now is the time. It is a blast to drive. I'm still not sold 100% on the color (I think the window sticker I found with the manual said Imperial Green Pearl Metallic, I think) It's hard to beat the color of red or blue. I don't plan on doing a lot of off roading, just a little playing.

4Jeepn Trail wise the 4 banger will keep up with the 4.0L, unless you in deep mud or sand.

Oh the highway, you will master the down shift. I think the tow rating is 1500 or so for the 4.. and 2k with the six but not sure... both engines if taken care of can go well over 200k.

I sold the HD and have been looking for a Jeep for the last few months. I was really trying to find a low mileage, 6cy Wrangler that I could play with a little. I kept finding the ones with 120,000+ miles and they were still asking 6-9000$. Then I found a 97, 4cyl, 5speed with only 73000 miles. Very clean. Very clean interior, soft top, nice body, untouched. I ended up getting it for 5200$. I wasn't expecting much out of the 4cy, but, It runs really good. The next morning I put 31" tires and new wheels on it. What a difference. My question is, since it is so clean, low mileage and looks awesome with the new tires and wheels, should I try and sell it, make a couple of thousand and try and find a six cylinder, or, just enjoy the thing.. Will I be able to pull a 16 foot bass boat with the 4cyl, or, do I really need to keep my eyes open for a six cyl if I plan on pulling a boat?

Thanks,
Chuck
