Just take the bumper off. Easy 6 bolts off.

Is a Small Seadoo boat under that weight along with trailer.
For the 4-door your tow rating is based on gearing. 3.21 = 2000 lb max. 3.73 and above = 3500 lb
For 2 door models, max 2000 lb regardless of gearing.

I should have ordered a Curtis. Bargin price will not end up being worth the extra trouble to get it just OK.
I installed the RR a month Ago and fit was perfect, no problems fit well.

It does...but there is another package which includes the wiring harness and Jeep receiver cover. That is the one I picked up. Very easy install.

Unless you got the 3.73 gears as a standalone option since you didnt get it included with a tow package, your maximum tow weight recommended by mfgr is 2000lbs. You should be fine with a jet ski though. Our 3 seater yamaha waverunner only has a 850lb dry weight.

2012 Hitch

Works great!

hair2831 I have the Quadratec hitch and it is great. I've used it to tow trailers and as a recovery point. It works and is priced right.

BacaraJKU Search for a thread called Towing Capabilities. A lot of discussion on towing limits. Documented ratings by jeep as well as opinions.

SnowboarderOx correct. No drilling.
07-05-2013 11:25 AM
Numbercruncher I assume no drilling is needed to mount the Quadratec hitch?

thejdj The Q-tec package with the hitch, wiring, and cover is currently $80. Free shipping for forum members and no tax in most states.

I installed mine in about 20 mins after work one day.

It's a really nice kit. One thing I did like about the Q-tec kit is that the wiring harness routes over the frame rail instead of under it. The clips on the harness snap in to existing holes holding it in place away from the muffler. I'm very happy with it.

Metonymy I jusr ordered the Quadratec hitch today. The factory hitch came off when the first aftermarket bumper went on, but now that I switched to an AEV, I need a hitch mount again. So I ordered that and the receiver mounted recovery point insert that holds a d-ring. Should be awesome.

big_slacker FWIW if you're planning on hitch racks for bikes and such the hidden hitch one is a little more spendy but extends out a little more which will help clearing the spare.

Rude Robert the one in the catalog says 350 tongue wt and 3500 class 3 rated??
07-04-2013 09:12 AM
laollis $62.50 2007-2013 hitch with wire harness at Amazon! Oh..forgot to add it's Rugged Ridge. Ya can't beat that price and free shipping.

Potts Same here - quadratec hitch with wiring harness for I think $90. And it came with a sweet rubber hitch cover that says jeep. Looks sweet and it's built solid. Took me 30 minutes for wiring and everything - Super simple and instructions are easy.

My neighbor paid some shop 450 to put a hitch on his. He was pissed when he found out what I paid.
07-04-2013 09:00 AM
Rude Robert what is the rating?? I might go this route actually
07-03-2013 03:59 PM
Billet13 Another reason to go Quadratec. No extraneous work to do ( like bumper removal).
07-03-2013 03:55 PM
the Grouch Removing the plastic bumper (another four bolts) makes it easier to mount the hitch receiver. Specially if the nuts are not welded to the receiver.

MI JeepSkate i bought the quadratec premium hitch with the harness and it took me 15 minutes. put the 4 bolts in the rear, take off the driver side tail light, pull the plug out, slip the new plug in and hook it all up, run it down the body to the frame and youre done. just dont do it while the jeeps hot, burnt the shit out of my hands on the exhaust because i was so excited to get it on

Exactly. I put mine on in the parking lot at my office!

2012 jeep hitch install

I talked to the jeep dealer so i didnt have any pictures of it. I want to put a hitch on the jeep. He said there were 200$. I am looking at 4wheel catalog and i show one for 60$. I havent looked under the jeep but i thought that these mounted to the frame. I was assuming it had arms that when along the iframe on both sides? this is just a little square looking thing that has 4 or five bolts. looks like it would mount right in the middle some where in the current bumper
