HelenaAG There was some bad script removed on the evening of the 8th (EST). Is this still happening?

- What pages does the ad appear on?

As much as it a great to encourage members to support the forum we need to focus on the issue so the forum works for all members.

Like I said above, it happens with Safari for me, although I haven't seen the ad in a few days.

It happened in different threads in different forum sections.

4Jeepn Okay.. lets all get along regardless of which program we use... AG is working on the fix...

Buz 1 never seen the ad till i opened thread(1st post),,, using latest chrome.

RevCo666 For those using firefox, there are some add-on's that cures almost all these problems:

Adblock Plus 2.2.4 (You control exactly what shows up on your screen, including ads)
Adblock Plus pop-up addon 0.8
Advertising Cookie Opt-out 1.5
DoNotTrackMe 2.2.9.520

Since using these add-on's(for over a year now), my browsing on this site and any any other has been sweet relief. If your not sure how to use/add them, invite a geek friend over to help ya fix your PC

Moabite I absolutely will not switch browsers just to be able to use this site. I've been using IE since it was invented and have zero problems with other sites. WF needs to fix the script issue if they want to avoid losing members. For now, it's off my list of sites I visit daily...and I'm sure I'm not alone from the number of complaints about this issue that reared it's annoying head in the last few days.

jjbroze I have been using Window 8 and IE 10, this site has been driving me crazy with ads and scripts slowing down the page. I downloaded Firefox and added the Ad Blocker Plus add on, now site is OK, no more adds and script issues. Simple fix.

jkucod12 I use DoNotTrackMe Medals | Abine zero adds on all websites.

n00g7 adblock https://www.google.com/search?q=adblock

You're welcome

chevymad I get this ad using chrome. It pops up mostly from the forum index. Pops up all on its own and sometimes happens nearly every thread. It makes you watch 15sec worth of video before you can close it. I'm on satellite and have monthly data limits so this is beyond annoying. It hasn't come up for me today however, but many times over the last week.
07-04-2013 08:10 PM
wat3rdog Agreed ^^^^^ but if I had seen an annoying amount of ads and messages like session timed out due to the script being too long I would have bailed and moved on. If I see overkill I avoid at all cost.
07-04-2013 07:25 PM
O_M_Jeep I'm a supporting member, I think it costs $10 or something like that, I have never seen that ad (or any large or annoying ad).

I don't want to be a jerk, and I don't want to sound like I'm talking down to anyone, my first thought was - 'If your getting this ad often enough to be annoying you that much, then don't you think your spending enough time here to become a supporting member and help finance your recreation?'.

Like I said, not to be a jerk, but, the site isn't free, the bandwidth isn't free, the advice you get here is helpful, saves you money, entertains and gives you access to a like minded community that shares some of your passions, if your here enough to hate the ads, then you should be helping the site stay operating, then the ads go away.

Barrie It does it to me when I change pages or go from one section to another. IE here. No ad or popup.

Just Wrangler forum not responding due to long running script.
07-04-2013 07:17 PM
abqtj I was on safari when I saw it both times. Comes up when a thread loaded on its own, no hovering that I could tell.

HelenaAG Hey. Alan here.

Few questions?

-Is this ad only appearing for IE members? Which version (7,8,9,10)?
-Is the a pop-up ad (pop up by hovering over an image OR text OR on its own)
-Does anyone have a URL for the ad?
- What pages does the ad appear on?

Thanks

Get Chrome with ad blocker. You'll never go back.

wat3rdog There's a few forums over the years that I wouldn't even dive into because of ads all over. To me it feels sketchy virus wise so I won't explore those sites further.

When it's controlled by your companies IT computer guy there is not much you can do. I think the point that is being made is there are already enough ads, how greedy is this company? There are always choices that can be made.

abqtj Mine had to play for a certain amount of time before closing, FYI

JDsDream I notice in the screenshot that you have the option to close the ad. Use that for now and in the mean time, I will forward this thread to the powers that be (AG) and see if there is anything that they can do.

Bluedog225 otherwise not much we can do....

Wow. Something I can do.
06-30-2013 10:01 PM
wat3rdog I surf via Droid app and became a supporting member when I bought my jeep after lurking for a yr.
No adds on phone app.

abqtj Got this popup video ad today, Most annoying thing I've ever seen and it makes me NOT want to become a supporting member.
06-28-2013 07:59 AM
tabber02 if you become a supporting member of the forum, you're given the option of "turning off" some of the sponsor ads. have you considered that?

1. go into your user control panel (User CP)
2. select "Edit Options"
3. scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Remove Sponsor Ads at the Top of the Forums/Discussions"

otherwise not much we can do....
06-28-2013 07:58 AM
Crosseyed Cricket Are you logged in? Normally, if your not logged in you will get more ads than if you weren't.
