JKWrangler2012 I ordered my wrangler from the factory without noticing the gearing options. I regeared to 4.56 running true tracs on the 44 and HP30.. No problems with "eating itself"

Goldcomet I'd buy new gears. If you're paying the labor to have them installed I'd put new in. You don't know how the used ones were handled or stored or why the were removed.

DirtyTeddy I run TF 2.5 35x12.5 tires, full width bumper and a 12k winch. 3.21 gears don't bother me but ill change when I put lockers in.

jadmt rubicon gears will not work. Most places seem to want about $1000 labor not including parts. It is pretty easy to find 3.73 take offs because lots of people go deeper. You will also need a new front carrier as the 3.21 carrier does not work with 3.73 and up.

Purcy Should I stay with the terraflex and just step down to a 33' or a 285? Is that a possibility without losing a lot of power?

Im a bonehead

Well the wife just bought a new jeep. 2013 JKU sahara. After we looked at 50 or so locally, we hadn't made up our minds on what we wanted. I had my priorities, she had hers. She made a roadtrip to her parents and she found the one she wanted. I wasn't worried, I thought most Sahara models were pretty close to the same. She brings it home and after a month I really havnt had much time to drive it by myself, until today... After an hour or so I started thinking I was driving a turd. I get home and pull the window sticker out and low and behold we (she) managed to find and buy one with 3.21s.... Every Sahara we test drove (mostly her) had the 3.73 gears, I thought that was standard on the Sahara, dumb move. That was my main priority but I failed to explain to her why.

We already had a lift (terraflex 2.5) and wheels and tires (35s) picked out and was ready to pull the trigger. Now I realize that's really not an option until I change the gears, I think.

Has anyone done the same thing? Am I going to have to drop a grand to swap the gears out? Will it void my warranty? Would putting 4.10s out of a 2012 Rubicon be an option? By a slim chance I might have a line on a set pulled out at 10k miles on the cheap. This really has thrown a kink in our plans.
