HFC3 I'm a complete novice when it comes to fuel/wrangler issues, but I had a string fuel smell - well, that and fuel pouring off the right rear bumper. Someone here led me to find where it was a Roll Over Valve - which is mounted in the space between the passenger rear wheel and the passenger tail light.

My ROV was completely shot (rotted right off the fuel line), but it yours is just leaking a little at this point, maybe the fuel smell isn't from the canister, but from fuel running along the fuel line into the area around the canister?

Check my thread ( for photo's on that.

Just a thought.
