Steeljag I do the same! Two newer model vehs in the drive way and even with having AC issues with the jeep here in the Florida heat, I prefer to jump in the Jeep on the weekends.

PiePuncher Maybe we are all just crazy!! I have a bmw 535, a suburban and my 98 tj w 120k miles. The wife likes to drive the bmw but every chance I can talk her into jumping into the jeep, we take it.
I have been replacing parts on the jeep recently but it's still my vehicle of choice. In the last week, I have had a bad power steering pump, bad ignition coil, bad freeze plugs but I fix the issues and on I go driving the jeep.
The jeep does have the best stereo out of all our cars but it's far from a luxury vehicle. I just love driving the jeep.

SCHOOLBUSLEO Its just a jeep thing you have to own one to understand. I to have other very nice vehicles but only drive the jeep, hell I was going to store it away for the winter & couldn't even bring myself to do that. Even bought a plow for it to have an extra excuse to drive her. Oh yeah, its a jeep thing!

lindel Until you figure a way to take the top off the truck, or get the bigger tires on your 'Vette, the TJ will always be your favorite!

ChasUGC You just feel like you can go anywhere in a Jeep, and you feel like you're prepared for anything. If there was a sudden massive earthquake with rocks from fallin' building all over the ground, or an aggressive alien invasion, or a flash flood, what vehicle would you choose then? Of course, it would be the Jeep. You are just staying prepared.

OkieOutlaw Many a coyote has fallen to me standing on the step with my M4 on the bipod across the roof of my beloved "JJ".

There are some practical applications for the side steps. My 9 year old rides with me all of the time, and he uses the step. I use my TJ on the ranch regularly. I generally take the TJ when I go check on my sheep. Lots of stopping on top of hills and glassing. I like to stand on the step to get a little or elevation while glassing. Same applies when hunting. Having said that, I rarely use the step to get into my TJ. But, it does serve a purpose for me.

EDIT: Oh, and the step serves a good good place to scrap the crap off of my boots (sheep poop....a lot), before I get into the Jeep.

Not the only one

I only got my Jeep a few weeks ago. I also have a 95 chev 3/4 ton 4x4 and a 08 Ford F150 4x4 as well as a 94 Harley Sportster and a super nice 05 Honda VTX 1800 custom trike, but yet I always seem to jump in the Jeep anytime I go anywhere. It has even taken the place of my Yamaha Mule or the Timberwolf for chores around the farm. lol.

SinfulDragon 05 Yukon Denali sitting at home in the driveway while all 5 of us packed into the Jeep this morning.
That's right. I added a middle seatbelt so that my kids could all ride and it could be carry us all too and from.

Edgar_TJ I have a Ford Mondeo that I use with no charge. It's my "Office-whore".
What do I do? I drive at my own costs with my "Sarge" a 2000'er TJ....
In germany the Jeep is an exotic rig, but it's my best "car" (a jeep is not a car!!) ever.
I owned a Rover SD1 V8, two Chrysler in the 80'th, a Mercedes, a BMW, an Intermeccanica Indra, but the TJ is my first real rig that gives me a lot of fun and brings up a big grin in my face.
(Sorry for my english.... it's not so good)

bryanintowson On my driveway there are two things:

1. a FIAT 500
2. a 2002 Wrangler Sport

I love them both and I am in the best position in the world for a car guy. It's hard to choose which to drive!

sport01 Driving a TJ is like driving a Vette not the same handling or power but it just has that cameraderie aura! I have 3 Vettes 03 6spd 76 L82 and a 66 coupe.

Same here! My Harley hasn't been started all summer. And a YJ is the reason my brother sold his NInja.

Big Cole I'd much rather drive my chevelle than the TJ. If the weather is good there is absolutely no way I would even consider driving the jeep instead of the chevelle. 425 HP small block backed by a th350 with a full manual valve body and 4.10 gears is much more fun to drive.

Chili99 yeah I hear ya....my SC99 Vette and my 07Z06 haven't been getting the miles lately

TheBestCoast i think ill only own an old ass VW (had 4 already) or Jeep...

the community, the feel of the road, the mods you can do, really the only vehicles that i think have a heart n soul.
07-09-2013 07:35 PM

have fun keeping the mileage on your vette low.
It is definitely simplicity and the openess of a Wrangler with the top off. Actually, I have to say, I still miss having a CJ or even better, one of my old Jeepster Commandos. The "sport cage" of the Wrangler and the PITA top and front windshield make it less enjoyable than the truly open old Jeeps (though admittedly, they make the Wrangler a better daily driver).

DavidW954 My BMW 530 MSport sits on the drive for weeks at a time! I only drive it if I have a long way to go!

I feel ya I have a focus as well as my jeep. I had to get one of my friends to pull me out of the mud I. The focus the other day. The jeep doesn't have that problem.

Bugs713 LOL!
I also have a vette (82) and spend much much more time in the TJ!
I spend the last 7 years restoring the vette and finished last year; started getting board and figured I needed another bank draining hobby...oh well, it was nice having some money for a few months anyway, back to Cup-O-Soup for dinner.

dotey1 the 2012 charger feels like a luxery liner compared to my 04 LJ. Pulled thr charger into Home Depot and had to back up to put it in somewhat straight. The wife laughed at me cause it is her car

SurfKaster I have the option to commute in a Honda Pilot, but I don't. I cuss her & threaten to sell occasionally. I've looked at other vehicles, but damn there's nothing else I want to drive... Except maybe another Jeep.
07-06-2013 09:56 PM
JCizzle Yeah well I have two bentleys and a helicopter but I choose my jeep even in Houston heat and rush hour... LOL
