My wife asked me to take her off-roading for our anniversary and my stepdaughter has been begging me to take it out topless since the day it came home from the dealer so I'd say it's a big hit

I honestly didn't expect anyone from this community to discourage getting a jeep. I also have no intention of mall cruising, I bought this to go off road.

Haha now you did it! You cannot corner in a jeep fast especially after you put on a lift and bigger tires. Be careful while cornering. Now go outside and find a branch off a tree. Now drag that branch down each side of your new Jeep and get it out of the way. Push hard enough to put some real marks on it. Next time your in the Boise area look me up and I'll show you some great trails.

So while I was there, out of the corner of my eye, I spied a 4 door all black Wrangler Sport Unlimited something.. (I'm a newb, so I don't know the jargon for what I was looking at).

Here's my dilemma.. I own a bright red 2012 twin turbo BMW 335i Sport with M-sport quick shifter and upgraded run flat wheels. This car is badass and frequently gets appreciative stares in parking lots and while I'm driving around. I have even had a cop at a seatbelt onramp check stop me and ask me questions about this car. It does 0-60 in less time than Dr. Who's TARDIS.

I am going back to this dealership on Thursday to test drive the wrangler but I remain skeptical. Consumer Reports rated the Wrangler at 20 while it rated the GC Summit at 80. The wrangler is on their "do not recommend" list, even as a potential zombie apocalypse survival vehicle (yes, they actually have an article about that...)

So, here's my challenge to the Jeep people here: convince me that I'm going to love driving this thing to the grocery store and to pick my daughter up from cheerleading. I know it'll be a blast to take off-road, and if I do swap, I will seek out trails... but, 90% of my driving will me around a small suburb or on New England highways.

The second challenge is, what would you say to the people who would inevitably say, "You traded a BMW 335i sport for a WHAT?!?"

Dont do it!!!

You wont be happy it not your "thing" stick to the mall cruisers...

Go bare bones. You'll be better off when you go to do jeep stuff. (Like take off the doors, which are much heavier if they have power windows).

bimmerchop Congrats OP! Love the CG.

I too am a BMW and Audi owner and have recently found myself considering getting rid of both my cars for a JKU. Just signed up a couple day ago to start doing a little research, so this thread was a nice surprise.

Thumbs up from me on the color!

outdoorprogrammer She's loving it, absolutely loves all the features and the ride. It's taking a little bit to get her over the idea that Jeeps are good - there's a lot of prejudice floating around that Jeeps are crappy.

Duckquackers It will look bad ass and you can tell your yuppy friends you support our men and women who fight for all that is great in America... Good look my friend and lets get this deal done!
How is the boss like the GC?
